These three wonderfully contrasting and yet psycologically intertwined novels are placed aptly side by side giving even greater insight into the mother-daughter relationship of Wollstonecraft and Shelley. The book's presentation and format is of the usual high standard of the Penguin Classics range and includes a marvellously informative introduction by Janet Todd. It is so intriguing to see Wollstonecraft's innovative feminism alongside her daughter's passionate portrayal of the hetereosexual relationship. I particularly loved Shelley's Matilda, rich in deep-felt melancholey and burning with desire. Tackling the extremely taboo issue of father-daughter incest this is a brave novella, whose sub-text has a far-reaching insight of bereavement and it's effect on our lives.

This book was in excellent condition and was well packaged. It was very reasonably priced and came quickly which was a great bonus. It contains a small collection of stories by a well known mum and daughter duo from English history. I have e=read Mary Shelley's Matilda but not yet Mary Wolstencraft's two stories....so more pleasure there to look forward to at some time.
