A good addition to a bookshelf of any serious software engineer
on 11 October 2015
This book summarizes Brendan's vast experience on systems performance. Some of material is readily available on his weblog site, but I think it is really convenient to have everything in one place as a book.
The book actually fills an empty place between existing publications on low-level performance tuning of individual applications (like books on VTune) and theoretical textbooks on algorithms (like Corman et al.). It is a good contemporary follow-up to the performance tuning book by Raj Jain, published in 1992 and now becoming too aged to be valuable as technology advances.
