A decent book offering interesting arguments, but let down by very poor editing and fact-checking. The author and/or editors have an extremely annoying tendency to mangle and jumble military terminology which is almost certain to irritate former or serving soldiers reading this book. SA90 rifle? Never heard of it until reading this book!

Well writen book shows the Tony Blair government to be what they were and how they let our guys down badly. Very good book just wish Politicians would have more of a spine or if not go and put them selves in harms way not the armed forces.I definatly recomend you to read this book.

It's difficult to do so such a controversial issue justice in a few hundred pages but Fairweather manages to do so in an extremely erudite and precise way. The book is openly critical of many of the UK and USA's decision makers and their institutions and rightly so. This is not a polemic but a carefully researched and highly intelligent history. Certainly worth reading.

Fills in a lot of the 'whys' for those that served in Iraq. An indictment of British political and military strategy comes as no surprise.

Excellent analysis of a shameful period in the history of the British Army. It would not be so bad if so many people had not suffered as a result of the egos of a few. Let's not gloss over this. Let us see those responsible held to account!
