I found this book brilliant. It is easy to understand with little jargon. The book teaches you by clear explanations, examples, questions and programs for you to work out and do. The book has all the answers to the questions and answers for all the programs. It is also possible to download all the examples and program answers from the Internet so you don't have to type them out and you can just compile and run them. I think this book is ideal for people with no Java of program experience. This book has really helped me. With this book you can learn and be writing your first program very quickly. The only problem with this book is that once you get into it, you will not want to put it down and you will live on your computer!
This is a very likeable book, working its way from the basics to more difficult topics like threads and socket programming. Two things though. 1, I wish someone will tell the editors that review is spelt wrongly in the book contents pages, and 2. Could JDBC be included in subsequent editions. Otherwise I think it is vey good
