This book was an excellent reference when performing RMAN restore testing.
It doesn't cover using RMAN with Veritas netbackup in any great depth though, but probably unreasonable to expect it to anyway. For a useful primer on NetBackup with RMAN, see metalink doc id: 209117.1 'How to Install, Configure, Check and troubleshoot Veritas NetBackup 4.5 for Oracle'.
I don't question that these guys know their stuff but, sadly, they aren't writers. The prose is chatty, vague and sometimes seemingly contradictory. It is certainly confusing if nothing else. Concepts are poorly laid out and explained. There is a distinct lack of diagrams, which is a real pity. Explanations make use of the "rambling thread" descriptive method and ideas seem punctuated by related and important, but tangential information. It seems that the authors have written parts of this book in a similar way to the method that Rman employs when writing blocks to a backup piece. How fitting. One leaves this book with a huge lack of clarity about RMAN. What can I say? If I'd wanted a novel to read I'd have bought one.
