As an experienced UNIX Systems Administrator, I was expecting a comprehensive reference for Solaris. The book covers a wide range of topics but only to a basic level. I would have preferred considerably more detail, particularly on the administration side.
A well presented book that makes the assumption that you do actually know something about working with Unix beforehand. Although the introduction does give you some history behind Unix, the rest of the book is plagued by too much text and not enough examples for Beginners AND too few involved explanations for Experienced Users. It sits very neatly on the fence as a reference guide for the intermediate user. Its a hefty book... but you won't regret it.
