I enjoyed this book but gave it some stars less for a few glaring errors. For example the main female character is half French, half English - it's set in the 1860's and yet the writer says that she 'looked as his ASS' - wrong, wrong, wrong,!!! US writers should be aware that in the rest of the English speaking world it's arse! ASS has only even been used in the US since the 1930's as well. If a book is set in the Victorian period and is by an author who according to her bio enjoys writing about the period, then we should at least expect the tense and period setting is correct. If I sound picky it's just because it spoils my enjoyment - and historically it's about as bad as writing about Mark Anthony saying to Ceasar "yo what's up bro?"
