This might be a kids picture book, but it moved me to tears. When I find myself worrying about the world we are raising our children in, this book gives me hope. I love Oliver Jeffers' books, but this has become my favourite of all.
Quite simply everyone young and old should have a copy of this book.
A great book for curious minds- doesn’t answer many questions but gets kids asking them. Every page isn’t a masterpiece but there are several that are. There are a few pages that are a bit wasted like he spends 4 pages suggesting that the reader find someone to get her/his questions answered. But there are a few pages like the one underwater and another showing where we fit in the solar system that are so breathtaking that it deserves 5 stars.
Such an incredibly beautiful book. Having just read it for the first time it really has taken my breath away, just incredible illustrations and poignant words. I cannot wait to get reading this with my daughters (aged 1 & 4), I think they will love it and I just know how much pleasure we’ll get from snuggling up at bedtime reading this book and talking about it together as they grow. I look forward to reading it with them as they get older too, seeing them understand different aspects of it a little more. I can’t see this book spending long on our bookshelf at all. I would highly recommend this book as a gift for any aged child or adult. I am planning on buying another copy as a new baby gift and writing a little message inside.
My kids and I absolutely love ALL of Jeffers's books, every one of them, and this one is pretty special. As there isn't an actual story to follow, I can read it with my 3 and my 6 year olds, and both enjoy it differently.
My daughter is too young to understand most pages but I absolutely love it! I is the best children book I have ever seen, actually it is the most lovable book I have ever seen in general. Amazing illustrations. All ideas mentioned in the book is just very fundamental thoughts I wanted to teach my daughter and I got very happy to see how directly and simply he touched these important issues.
I love Oliver Jeffers' books - his humour in both the stories and illustrations light up our bedtime reading. This one is no exception, but it has the added bonus that each page opens up another conversation and prompts all sorts of questions from my children. It's a truly beautiful book on all levels.
Such a beautifully illustrated book, with such a beautifully written message within it. All children (and adults) should have a copy of this. It creates such an awe and wonder about our world, touching on both the natural and man made features within it. Most significantly, it teaches about respect and tolerance, when all too often these important skills are overlooked.
I bought this book to start a collection of children's books as I'm aspiring to become a primary teacher, and I've always enjoyed the wit and imagination of kids books. But this one in particular was such a delight to read! The illustrations are mind blowingly beautiful, the text so simple yet so considerate. Most of the time, I kept thinking that adults need this book too. It's a great reminder of what we are as human beings sharing this planet, and how beautiful and raw it actually is. We need to be a little bit nicer and this book is brilliant for kids and adults.
This book has crested a lot of excitement in my 21month old child's life. She adores naming the planet's and looking at the illustrations of the sea and land, of people and animals, great book. Love it! Provides entertainment everyday and she never gets tired of reading about planet earth and our moon.
