This thin volume provides some useful practice for children in this age group, while introducing them to key technical terms associated with extending their knowledge of and about words. The layout is spacious and quite attractive and relatively free of the silly drawings, with which publishers are inclined to patronise children.
All that allowed, there is not a great deal of substance and a bright child within this age range, left to his/her own devices, would polish off these exercises in very little time. The book will do no-one any harm and at the least will provide useful revision to supplement work in class. However, there is nothing much here to fire a child's imagination, nor to justify the publisher's grandiose claim that this slim volume will "develop a love of learning". Some evidence of good, simple writing would have provided a valuable adjunct to the series of exercises.
