We took this book on a trip to the Yorkshire Dales as we planned to do some walking and we weren't disappointed with the walks chosen. The instructions are relatively easy to follow and there is a map with each walk so you can see where you're meant t be in relation to the countryside around you. The walks are between 2.5 miles and 6 miles and, of the ones we did at least, they aren't too strenuous. We will be buying some of the other books in this series and definitely recommend buying this book, even if you just want an afternoon stroll.
This title is just one of a series of nine books that I bought in the Collins collection. We like to travel the country in our caravan and these books will enable us to get the true feel of an area by walking around in different parts of it. The books are small and sturdy with an area map on the front page with the walk numbers exactly positioned on it so you can see which walks are nearest to where you are staying. The walks show in this book are a perfect length for anyone holidaying in the Dales and wish to have a short walk either everyday or whenever you feel like it. They won't exhaust you. Every walk has an accompanying map with position numbers which correspond to the clearly worded directions and the difficulty of the walk is stated on the page. We're well pleased with these books and are looking forward to creating a mini library in our caravan so where ever we are we can just reach for a whole volume of walks! No more wandering around tourist information offices wasting valuable time and money searching for a walk in an area that suits us.
Speedy efficient, good service, Brought as a birthday present for a brother just moved to Yorkshire dales, and wanting to walk Its handy for pocket, easy to read and grat for older walkers, who want to enjoy the surroundings
The book has quality maps for each walk and is a great way to discover the various areas of the Dales.
It also has a handy map at the start of the book showing the overall location of the different walks.
Has all the standard info about distance of walk, ascent, estimated time etc.
Has good background info about the area, pointing out the history at different points of the walk.
Really pleased with the book as love great scenery. This book has been ideal for me going on casual walks with my girlfriend, having previously made her cry by taking her on more extreme walks in the peak district. Have done 3 walks from the book so far and haven't needed a compass.
