Really enjoyed this book and anyone who liked Hill will probably like this. Pity that are only a few of them.

Reginald Hill's Joe Sixsmith continues to keep Luton's streets safer without really seeming to know how he's doing it. Thoroughly entertaining.

Joe Sixsmith is a supremely likeable character. A former lathe operator he bumbles around ineptly solving murders more by luck than judgement. I like this human aspect to him a great deal, although sometimes it is hard to stretch credulity to believe quite how lucky he can be when he so obviously doesn't have a clue. But you can't help warming to him nonetheless.
