Lord of the Rings view of history
27 April 2011
Yes, this is erudite and well written, but the bias made it unreadable to me. It just seems to be your geographical location that matters.
Churchill "drinks heavily to sustain himself" in his arduous task while a German general is a "habitual drunk" and someone else is "an alcoholic".
British soldiers "sometimes hold the trigger down too long" in the heat of battle but Germans "shoot prisoners". And so on.
I have heard the author speak and he also really doesn't like Moslems, to the point where I was afraid he was not too far from Race Relations legislation.
If you read this book, I would suggest thinking about the imaginary balancing book about area bombing, blockade etc from the other side.
