As expected of Bernard Cornwall, really gripping book, lots of death, lots of humour, lots of cruelty. I'm in love with Uhtred, he's strong, he's vulnerable, he's gorgeous!
What I didn't like is how much the TV series, though really good, changes so much of the plot, and sometimes I just don't understand why. I can understand why they didn't include the ships and uhtred's career as a ships captain, clearly too expensive, but, without giving too much away, Iseult and Hild? Why so different?
But it doesn't detract from a really good read, so who cares!
