I read some good reviews in here and decided to give it a go. I like using my own grounded coffee and I wasn't willing to pay a lot for a coffee machine as well as invest in the coffee cups..at the end of the day it's also nice trying different coffee types and ideally fare trade products.
Great purchase, made a lovely coffee!
If you are into espresso shots you may need to master it a bit by adding a level 2 of coffee in the "metal funnel" and setting "Pause" before so much water drips into the Jug OR adding half of the recommended max water into the tank (240ml..so maybe 120ml) and keeping an eye on it!
Another thing that I noticed and does not say very clear on instructions but it's more about using common sense; ensure there's some water in the tank before setting the "steam" option and allow the water to heat first...instructions says to do it after making the coffee but the thing is that water tank will be more likely empty. I did make the coffee, then put the glass jug on the side, add some more water to the tank (maybe half full), allow it to heat for a bit by setting "make espresso" option until you can hear the water boiling (don't wait too long), move the control dial to "pause" for few seconds, then into "produce steam" option ..and here you are, machine has some water and can froth your milk.
I was a bit concerned of a pic with an exploted Jug all over the place but the only way I could think that this happened is by using the Glass Jug on the steamer option instead of a more suitable tool (e.g. stainless steel Jug and not overfilling the milk inside)? How can a Jug explote by some flow coffee? I come from a coffee drinkers country and never saw anything like that (even using the cheapest machines ever) so I guess this may happen if you are more of a tea expert or so.
Hope this review helps, haven't received any free item for it :)) Enjoy your coffee! xx

Effective little machine that I bought to replace a basic, but more expensive Delonghi that lasted a good six years. Delivers a smooth and quite rich brew despite being only 4 bars. However I don't get so much of the crema on my coffee as with the old machine.

Unfortunately, I had to return this machine as the milk frother didn't work. Was sent a second one, the frotherdoesn't work on this one either. Wasted my money.

Only 4 bar pressure, approximately a third of most machines, but using the right blend of coffee the results are as good as my stove top Moka coffee makers and comes pretty well clos to other more expensive machines I have had at twice or more the price. Remember it is only for making espresso and espresso based drinks not long coffees, but add boiled water steamed milk to the espresso and you have a good Americano Cappuccino or latte, as good as many high street stores. It takes time like all machines to adjust the blend, grind and amount of coffee to suit, but even from the first cup using the measures with the machine, I was sold.Like everything it can be beaten by more expensive machine that do nothing and many 'taste officianos" may scoff, but they shouldn't. I love my coffee and this replaces a much more expensive machine, an I can not tell the of a significant difference other than the crema is not much in existence, but flavour is. I wish I had know about the machine before. All round good vale, good flavour and ease of use. Well done VonShef, I recommend this machine to anybody .

This would have been a 5 star review had I not dropped the measuring jug only to find out they don't do replacement parts, was a great machine while it lasted

Got this for my mum who is coffee machine mad!! Fantastic for the price. The espresso comes out with just the right amount of crema. The frother isn't bad. It can take some time to get a perfectly frothed cappuccino but you'll get there. I've had this for a few months now and no complaints!

Very clunky system. It only boils about 200mls of water, then forces that as steam through the group head and you have to watch to make sure it doesn't run out. Only makes enough for one cup before you need to go through the whole process again. Not what I was looking for.

Don,t expect to get a perfect cup first time. It took me 4 cups but now I have coffee just as I like it. Ideal for single cups.
