This has a grey/white pitted surface, that looks like the sort of rock you would find in a fish tank ornament.
Having said that, it looks pretty good at a glance, and as long as no-one's specifically looking for a key rock, it should do OK.
Gently pushing rocks round would show that it's got a flat underside though. Best hide it rather than leave it in plain sight.
It's big enough to take a standard yale key. The plastic plug's fairly tight, but not waterproof, so it may be a good idea to get a brass key, or spray it with WD40 before storing away.

For the price it's probably ok. Looks like a real rock. But the void is very small - too small for my fairly standard mortice-lock key. You can sort of fudge it by putting the key into the white plastic bit and then plonking the stone on top, but it's unasatisfying as the key is not actually contained within the rock. Not sure if that will lead to rusting issues for the keys..?

I previously have used one of these as a Geocache hide and found that people really struggle to find it. Even knowing where to look! I have just bought 2; one for me and one for my mum, after she locked herself out recently. A brilliant piece of kit, which blends in easily and delivered promptly

I bought half a dozen as add-ons for Christmas. The perfect gifts for those special eccentric persons in your life. (I referred to them as 'Pet Rocks'). The key-safe concept is also a good idea - that's if you can find them in the garden after you've stashed them. PS: Grand-daughter is delighted with one in the aquarium.

Great. Blends in well in a plant pot. I can squeeze as many as three standard keys in there, but only if I position them sideways. I wrapped my key in tissue and put it in a plastic bag to keep the moisture out. So far so good.

It Looks great and if your house key is just the same size as the one shown, then you should be fine.

BUT - We have a Mortise Lock which is a slightly longer key.....it doesn't fit, it just sticks out of the end.
As a result, the key went all manky and corroded!

Also, don't wiggle it down into the soil as the water builds up inside and the keys will go manky as well!

I thought I have already given a review of the product. When I received first there was a minor manufacturing defect. The seller was prompt to respond and sent me a replacement that was good. This can hold at least two cylinder lock keys. One of my family member pointed out that there is some safety issue as this can be easily spotted by the one who is looking for it including wrong persons.

I am Using it for an Ant Trap To put Poison in instead of using margarine tubs at the front of the house, At this time of year I get lots of ants It does not look like Picture As the base is white plastic and I thought it was a stone looking bottom from the Picture and they joined up That way I could of used both bits over my traps

Very realistic - I'm actually going to use this as hiding units for Geocaching. Hopefully they are stable to sun and seasonal weather!
