People appear to like to compartmentalize music and cleave to some of the imagined sub-genres while decrying others. So you would put Stone The Crows into the bag marked PROG and forget about it because it's fort[y years out of date. This would deprive you of the enjoyment of some great music and some highly original use of the earliest analogue effects. For example, the primitive delay available to guitarists is here used imaginatively like a modern-day looper. Do yourself a favour and dip into the vital workd of Stone The Crows and their peers for some great expositions of the electric band format.

You have not lived if you have not heard Maggie Bell's rendition of "Penicillin Blues". The whole album is fabulous, but this track alone makes it truly unique. If this does not send shivers down your spine and make your bloodpressure rise, nothing will.
"Stone The Crows" are a hugely underrated group, and Maggie Bell is surely one of the world's most underrated singers. Makes Janis Joplin sound like a kindergarten-teacher with the flu.....
