Come on lets have a standard light fitting for petes sake. I recently bought a floor lamp and it has an Edison Screw lamp fitting. All the spare bulbs i have are beyonet Cap so this little ES - BC adapter will save me from having to buy ES bulbs. Be careful not to confuse it with BC - ES lamp fittings also advertised on Amazon.

Had one awkward standing lamp with the screw fitting when all other household lights were bayonett. Finding screw fitting lamps in supermarkets is awkward. Not always available and when available for some strange reason more expensive by quite a margin. Had loads of energy bulbs given to me free by energy supplier in bayonett fitting. This gadget works out more economical in the end as you can bulk buy one kind of style fitting. Only downside is that this raises the fitting by a quarter of an inch so can make bulb stick out of lampshade so if this would annoy you look for a shorter bulb. Energy Bulbs are now getting much neater than they once were but I am happy to use up my old stock for now as it us just an out of the way lamp!

It does it's job just fine, but I should maybe be brave and share this story... I feel stupid but I electrocuted myself quite badly with this thing. I had the bad luck of both bulbs going in my room one night so it was pitch black. I got a bulb out of another lamp and it turned out to be dead too. I lost track of my light switch whether it was on or off (it is a push button twisty dimmer so you can't tell). So I went to my wall light which has this adapter and reach in to get the old bulb out, and with my finger and thumb, I ended up touching the two bits of metal from the bayonet pointy bits that stick out the side of this plastic adapter. I got hit by 240 volts and it wasn't nice... I remember being stood there holding it and being zapped and then luckily it tripped the fuse box in my house so all the power went and I dropped to the floor. I really have to wonder if I didn't have the fuse box and it just kept zapping me, whether I would survive... Bad news, bad mistake. Be careful you don't do what I did. Not sure if it a bad design to not cover those metal bits or if I just did something unlucky and stupid. It does the job though but I'm scared to use it now. Just bought some appropriate bulbs instead.

I also have the opposite adapter (screw to bayonet) and that doesn't have the same problem because the screw part is entirely enclosed in the plastic.

Its OK, and reasonably priced. Seems well enough made for the job, which it does. It will save money in the long run because you will not have to buy the expensive screw-type bulbs, which are not readily available where I live. I use it with energy saving lamps, and have had no problems.

Brilliant piece of kit for a very reasonable price. It can handle the heat, works well with CFL lights. If you can't afford those really expensive CFL bulbs and wish to change to the cheaper bayonet fitting this comes Highly recommended.

I do not like it for a number of reasons.
1, I did not know this was coming from China and Amazon now need to make this clear on the listings so i can can see i am buying from China.
2, the construction does not meet EU regs and the construction is poor and made of soft plastic so will melt even at the wattage rating shown.
I put the one that arrived in the bin as i did not want the house to be on fire ......Red sky tonight .....House on fire.

A brilliant product....!I only came across this bit of kit by chance on Amazon,I had heard about them, but had never ever seen one.
I have noticed recently that when ever you buy standard lamp's,or table lamp's they seem to come with socket's which require bulb's with screw fittings, these are not alway's readily availabe, where as bayonet fitting's are usually the norm for both old type bulb's,and the more modern long-lasting ones.
To find a product which work's to convert from either screw to bayonet,or to bayonet to screw is just brilliant,so thank's to CostMad-UK,I can now convert my lamps around my home, and not feel worried if I cannot get screw bulb's.I have noticed also that bulb's with screw end's tend to cost a bit more than bayonet ones.

this lamp socket converter is the ideal inexpensive alternative to those very costly bulb light... you buy it once and you can use any normal UK standard fitting bulbs.
I bought one per each European lamp I had and I have solved the problem for ever!
