Product Description

This enclosure converts a mSATA drive (Mini PCI-E interface) to a 2.5" drive form factor (also known as a SATA to mSATA adapter). This is the perfect solution if you want to attach mSATA SSD into a laptop's 2.5" hard drive bay. This adapter/caddy has an internal mSATA connectorm and a standard external SATA connector. It has the same dimensions as a standard 2.5" hard drive with a 9.5mm height.

I received the product in good time, no problems at all. All you have to do is put the tiny mSATA SSD into the slot, and then tighten all of the supplied screws. Finished product looks very good. The number of little screws you have to tighten is a lot - but it will only take you 5 minutes.

I tested it with an mSATA 128GB in my desktop, and there were no problems at all. Just connected the SATA and power cables from my desktop into this, and it works no problem.

A thing to note - be careful of the word "mSATA". It can mean both Micro-SATA and Mini-SATA. If we are talking about these tiny SSDs found in Ultrabooks, such as the Crucial M4 mSATA, then this is MINI-SATA, and WILL work with this product. If we are talking about 1.8" mSATA SSDs - which usually have their own enclosure, then this is MICRO-SATA, and WILL NOT work with this product. It took me quite a bit of research to understand this and determine which adapter I need.

With this adapter, you can read the data off your Ultrabook mSATA (mini-SATA) SSD from your Desktop or ordinary laptop. Since ordinary laptops have only 1 SATA slot, you may not be able to read off your data as the laptop may not boot with another computer's hard disc. But on a desktop, with multiple SATA expansion cables, you will read off all your files no problem, as from a secondary hard drive.

Hope this helps. Most importantly, beware of the difference between micro-SATA and mini-SATA. This is NOT for 1.8" SSD drives. This is for really tiny looking (smaller than RAM stick) Mini-SATA SSDs.

Excellent product. I have a couple of mSATA SSD that I wanted to use in a legacy machine. This adapter is perfect for the job. Its worth paying the small amount extra for this product compared to the others available as this enclosed the mSATA in a well built case - preventing any issues with a bare mSATA board loose in your PC.

A well made product, does exactly as I asked, I saw a huge difference in Win7 boot time on the mSATA drives, delivered quickly from seller. Thank you

Needed something to mount my new mSATA drive in an external SATA cradle so I could transfer the contents of my old drive. Slot the new drive in secure with about 10 screws and then you're away. Worked first time which is all you can ask for.

Easy to install the drive, but be careful when doing up the tiny screws that hold the case together, it's very easy to over tighten and end up with the screw going round and round. Hardly the most robust product but it does the job perfectly. I'm using it inside a SATA to USB converter at the moment, and that works fine.

Think hardware failure and no other device to read the mSATA.

It just makes sense to get one of these if you have a mSATA disk in anything.

Purchased to convert a spare mSATA drive to a standard laptop size hard drive. Does the job perfectly and doesn't cause any performance drops which I have experienced with other products due to the conversion process. Only thing I could say is that it is slightly expensive really for what is essentially a small metal case with a converter board inside but there isn't anything else available in this design for cheaper.
