Four of my books (The Sprocket Sagas)were written for the Fearsome Four otherwise known as my four grandchildren. The other one (Sea Change) was written for me again from a northern perspective, to put some ideas on paper rather than have them whizzing round in my head and bumping into my ears and taste buds.
I was born in Northamptonshire a part of England which many people pass through and by but few stop and visit. Since then I have moved to the dark satanic North which much to my relief is neither dark nor satanic and the people are great.
The Sprocket Books are based in Batherby Bridge which starts as a rundown backwater of industrial decline but by the second book is the center of the Five Fells District and The Great Northern Forest. These are books with real northern bite some of which is provided by an English Bull Terrier called Mrs. Mumbley. If you are not familiar with these dogs Google them, and meet the animal world's answer to a main battle tank. I have put up a photograph of me which is the best one I could find as I am camera shy, there is also one of the Fearsome Four who do their best to keep my wife and I young.
There is a fifth Sprocket book in preparation and a followup novel to Sea Change which will be a full length book as my first reviewer reckoned it had at least three books in it. We'll see!
If you read my books please write a review, good or bad, they all help. If you want more information or would like to make closer contact I can be found on facebook.com/bryan.pentelow.author
As a little further background one of my hobbies has been Public Speaking, which is how I first dipped my toe into writing. Yes there are unbalanced people in this world who enjoy getting up and speaking to an audience, even entering competitions and occasionally winning a few. So if you find yourself faced with having to make a speech and don't know where to turn for help drop me a line on facebook or an email to email@example.com and I will give you a few pointers which I have found useful.
Got my first review for Sprocket and the Great Northern Forest, it realy made my weekend!
1. "Sprocket and the Great Northern Forest" by Bryan Pentelow is one of the most original and imaginative novels I've read in a long time! I was completely drawn in from the get-go to the author's fantasy world and creative characters, and absolutely loved the author's use of description of the different scenery and locales, and his attention to detail. This is written for younger readers, but will have a lot of cross age appeal for the older readers as well. Ready for more adventures with the team! (5 stars)
Sprocket and the Poison Portal is now finished. Now comes the grueling task of correcting and editing which involves hours of staring at a screen trying to iron out problems and trying to cope with the weirderies of my spelling and Word grammar. Always in a rush an barely in control of my enthusiasm I have started Sprocket 4. Watch this Space
