Ed Stafford is an English explorer and face of survival on Discovery Channel. He holds the Guinness World Record for being the first human ever to walk the length of the Amazon River.
Ed has filmed seven series for Discovery including "Walking the Amazon", "Naked and Marooned" ("Naked Castaway" in the USA), "Into the Unknown", "Marooned" and "Left for Dead". Ed has recently finished filming a brand new series that will launch early in 2019 called "Ed Stafford: First Man Out". He has had a global following of over 95 million unique viewers each year on the channel.
A former British Army captain Ed has served in Northern Ireland and been contracted to the UN during the first presidential elections in Afghanistan. During the latter assignment Ed was mortared by the Taliban and had their compound burnt to the ground during riots in Herat.
Ed has written three books: "Walking the Amazon", "Naked and Marooned", and "Adventures for a Lifetime" (aka "Ed Stafford's Ultimate Adventure Guide: The Bucket List for the Brave" in the USA).
Ed lives in rural Leicestershire and is married to fellow adventurer Laura Bingham. They have a son called Ran who is a dude.
