Tez Watson started writing poetry following a twenty-odd year career in the Royal Air Force and has seen his output increase in both number and quality since joining forWORDS - The Forres Writing Group. Originally from a rural village in the West Riding of Yorkshire he was always fascinated by words as a child - his poems are as broad as they are long, covering all manner of subjects, expressing everything from humour to outrage. With McCourt blood in his veins he may have been destined to write but was stifled by schooling and peer pressures - no longer is that the case...
Tez has had work featured in "Poetry Loud & Silent" (Arts Council for Wyoming) as well as online in 'Shot Glass Journal' website, the magazine of The Gordonstoun Association (he's an ex member of staff), a few MG/classic car magazines and 'Touched By Fire' ezine. He has read his work at a number of Nairn Book & Arts Festival events in the Little Theatre plus Tales On The River Bank as well as The Green Bards Ceilidh, Poetry In The Gallery (with Helen Addy), at Findhorn Bay Arts Culture Day, Buskfest in Elgin , Bards At The Beastie (a Burns celebration event in Forres) and at numerous forWORDS events.
He has been invited to share the stage with Nairn's writing group 'The Pen and I' on a number of occasions and has appeared with other writers at Inverness Library's Happy Hour. In October 2013 along with Andy Allan and Helen Addy he appeared on The Literature Show on SHMU FM in Aberdeen where each of the three poets shared their work. Most recently he had his poem "To Our Veterans" selected for inclusion in the 2013 Pendle War Poetry Competition anthology.
2015 saw Tez join other forWORDS writers, UHI musical students along with Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas on stage at Celtic Connections in Glasgow to perform their work. Tez also collaborated with the National Theatre of Scotland on their community drama "To Begin" which was performed during the Culture Day of the Findhorn Bay Arts Festival.
Now with seven collections of his poetry "On The Way Home And Back Again", "One For the Road", "Along The Dusty Road Of Life", "Go Fourth And Multiply", " A Fifth Of Everything", "Turn Left At The Airport" and "A Basin of Water" all published on Kindle and also available as printed books on Amazon his work is more widely available than via traditional outlets.
