THEATRE MAKER and BEEKEEPER
Luke spends the summer months looking after beehives across the rooftops of London.
As the seasons turn he moves indoors and returns to his other life as a theatre maker.
Luke’s work as a theatre director and performance maker has embraced Love and the Revolution with the Berliner Ensemble, The Golem with Theater Brostowska in Prague and Bratislava, Age of the Saints in Dublin, the British tour of Noël Coward’s Brief Encounter, Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens’ Blue Wedding in Oxford, A Midsummer Night’s Dream in South Africa, Sweetness & Light in London and Colchester, A Summer of Ecosex in France and England, and Mulheres de Shakespeare in Brazil and Chasing the Butterfly (National Portrait Gallery). His productions for theatre nomad, of which he was Artistic Director for 20 years, have been seen in China, North America, South Africa, Germany, France, Poland, Russia, Czech and Slovak Republics, Spain and the UK.
In the summer months Luke escapes from the theatre and works with Urban & Community Beekeeping, establishing apiaries and managing beehives in and around London from Heathrow Airport in the West to London City Airport in the East. These include Lancaster London Hotel, Novotel, London College of Fashion, London School of Economics, Hounslow Action for Youth, Ted Baker, Hogan Lovells, The Three Stags Pub, Greenpeace, Coram's Fields, The British Museum, Kensington Palace, and Hearst Magazines. He is beekeeper-in-residence at London's Natural History Museum.
