Luis Lozano is a 47 year old writer from East Sussex, England. He is the son of Spanish immigrants whose story he is not allowed to tell.
Luis always knew he had to write and has often fought the urge as he considers the process tortuous and would rather paint gloss than tap the keys.
Facing the Sun is his first novel and he is currently working on his second, which is a semi fictional account of the life and death of Caravaggio. "I'm drawn to disturbed characters and dark situations. I plan to write about Yasser Arafat in time and his contribution to the Palestinian betrayal. If I am shot for it, so be it. I can't write about light and fluffy subjects, I wish I could, I would be so much easier to live with."
Luis is an English teacher but was once a soldier who saw active service in Northern Ireland. "Not all injuries are physical. The experience was indelible and shapes my view of situations and characters."
Of his ambitions for his writing career he says "I can't teach forever, it can be quite draining. If I have a talent for writing it will be recognised one day, somehow, God willing, and if it is not, then my little girl will have a unique legacy."
