About the author

Dr Kristian Niemietz is an economist living in London. He is Head of Political Economy at the London-based Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), a Research Fellow at the Zurich-based Liberal Institute (LI), and a Senior Fellow at the Berlin-based Institute for Free Enterprise (IUF). He previously worked as an Economics tutor at King's College London.
Niemietz was born in 1980 in Kaiserslautern (state of Rhineland-Palatinate), West Germany. He studied Economics at the Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Salamanca, graduating in 2007 as Diplom-Volkswirt (=MSc in Economics). He also studied Political Economy at King's College London, graduating in 2013 with a PhD.
He joined the Institute of Economic Affairs in 2008.
