Michael Kerr is a journalist and writer. He was born in Northern Ireland and grew up there in a seaside boarding house — a boyhood recounted in his memoir, Our Side of the House (Quartet).
Until 2014, he was on the staff of The Daily Telegraph, where he worked in several departments, latterly as a commissioning editor and writer on the travel desk. He is now freelance, still contributing regularly to the Telegraph as well as to other publications.
He has edited three volumes of Telegraph travel anthologies, all published by Aurum Press: Last Call for the Dining Car; Bon Voyage!; and Sunrise on the Southbound Sleeper.
He edits the website www.deskboundtraveller.com, which is dedicated to travel storytelling. He can be found on Twitter at @kerraway and @deskboundtravel.
