I've been using this monitor for almost 6 months now. I've thoroughly enjoyed using it and can't recommend it highly enough. It has exceeded my expectations. At £400, the price is right and you get all the features seen in similarly-specced flagship ultrawides from Asus and Acer that cost more than twice as much. The iiyama monitor offers the same refresh rate, same response time, same resolution and screen size, and the same display technology, making it my top recommendation for a gaming IPS ultrawide. It ticks almost all the boxes.
I've come across concerns with regards to the monitor's input latency as well as some quality control and firmware-related issues in earlier samples. I haven't experienced any of these issues myself. In terms of its input latency, I can't say I've noticed any sort of lag at all. I'm not a competitive gamer nor do I have any experience with any other gaming monitors, but I do play fast-paced action and FPS games at high frame rates and haven't noticed any issues at all with input lag. The monitor seems to respond quite fast to my mouse and keyboard inputs (based on my subjective experience rather than any actual measurements). If there is any delay, I'm not experienced or trained enough to be able to notice it in any way.
1) Gaming performance
The monitor handles high frame rates very well. As mentioned above, it offers a fast response to your mouse and keyboard inputs. During fast motion sequences or rapid camera turns, the image does not get blurry. The refresh rate and pixel response time seem to handle those rapid transitions extremely well, giving you a very smooth experience if you're able to hit high frame rates with consistent frametimes. At this resolution, you can expect an overclocked 6900 XT to push roughly 110-120 FPS at maxed out settings on a GPU-intensive game like borderlands 3, while you can hit over 130-140 FPS on less graphically-demanding modern titles while still maxing out all settings.
With Freesync turned off, my untrained eyes haven't noticed any stuttering or tearing at all, not even once.
2) Image quality
Left at their stock/factory calibration settings, the colours look fine and the viewing experiencing is good for anything from gaming to productivity, but the monitor doesn't offer anything exceptional or exciting in this regard. Viewing angles are exactly in line with what you'd expect from an IPS panel. The very first thing I did with the monitor was to check it for any dead pixels by cycling through several solid colours and I'm glad to report that my panel is entirely free of any defects, 6 months on.
3) Build quality
The very first thing I noticed is the premium feel of this product. It's made almost entirely of plastic but, at first glance, the quality of the construction seems above average and comparable to what you'd see in much more expensive monitors. The adjustments (tilt, pivot, rotation and height) are very smooth and highly satisfying. There is one noticeable problem however. Despite its apparent build quality, the monitor is very wobbly at the neck and even a slight nudge to your tabletop will send the screen into a persistent wobble. I'm able to put up with that, but it's an annoyance and definitely something to consider.
The product requires no tools at all to assemble. The neck comes already attached to the monitor. All you have to do is hook the neck into the stand and secure it by hand (instructions provided).
4) Backlight
The backlighting on my particular panel is fairly uniform and gets a thumbs up from me. The brightness can be turned up quite high and I've noticed no backlight bleed on my panel.
However, there is one important thing to point out and that is the visible IPS glow that I can observe on my panel, most pronounced in the dark and at a high brightness setting. This is not a problem for me and isn't visible when I'm sitting at the desk at a normal viewing distance away from the screen, using the stock brightness setting. It's not a big deal but something to bear in mind. This is not a defect with the monitor but an artefact of IPS technology.
Another thing to mention here is the poor black levels on this panel. Black looks very lit up on the panel at stock brightness. My panel doesn't come anywhere near close to displaying true black, but again, this is a limitation of IPS technology and not a problem with the monitor itself. It doesn't significantly affect my viewing experience. But if you require true, deep blacks for your work or gaming, know that this screen won't provide that. This, I feel, is one of the monitor's main limitations but not a deal-breaker and I'm still giving this monitor a full 5 stars.
5) Accessories
It comes with a UK power cable, an HDMI cable labelled as "premium high speed hdmi cable with ethernet", a display port cable, and a cable for the USB hub.
The manual is fairly useless and can be discarded. It wastes its time illustrating how to plug devices into the monitor (iiyama have assumed their customers don't know how to use cables to connect their devices to the monitor) rather than explaining the OSD features and settings, which would have been handy and removed the need to guess the meanings of many abbreviations and options.
6) Aesthetics
It doesn't have the gimmicky "gaming" style you see implemented in other gaming monitors. It looks clean and professional with a very minimalistic, all-black design featuring the company logo and G-Master branding at the back.
The bezels on the sides and top measure just 2mm, contributing to the sleek appearance of the viewable screen.
7) On-screen display
The OSD can be navigated using a row of 4 buttons (no joystick). It took me just a few minutes to get completely comfortable with it and I can now navigate it with ease, so it gets a big thumbs up from me. The range of settings accessible via the OSD can be seen in the attached photos.
8) Sound
The monitor packs a loudspeaker(s) at the back. To my surprise, the maximum volume goes up very high on the monitor and is much louder than you'll ever need. Setting it at 57/100 is too loud even for me. The sound quality is fairly good considering the source. I'd be very happy to use the built-in speaker for everything from music to podcasts but I don't want to disturb the neighbours.
9) Range of movements

10) A few measurements
- The viewable screen measures exactly 33.4cm by 80cm.
- The distance between the edge of the viewable screen and the bezel is 6mm (that's to say, there's a black border around the viewable screen measuring 6mm in thickness).
- Lastly, the bottom edge of the viewable screen sits 20.2cm above the surface of your desk with the monitor at maximum height. This isn't quite enough for me so I will be placing this monitor on a short stand. It's also mountable, if that is your thing.
All in all, this is a solid monitor that delivers high-end features at a mid-range price point. If I had to buy an ultrawide monitor again, I'd still choose this one, 6 months on (despite the screen wobbling around violently as I type the last of this review).
