This power supply makes a pleasant change from the usual gutless rubbish and happily powers a Raspberry Pi with WiFi adapter etc whilst also having a supplementary USB socket capable of charging phones/MP3 players etc.

My only tiny gripe is that the device I received was actually labelled as 2A, not 2.1A; 2A is sufficient for my purposes and these labels are often works of fiction in any case, so it's not a concern for me.

This charger was bought to replace the one that came with my daughter's 7" Medion Lifetab Tablet.

The problem with the original charger (as with so many others) was that it had a separate lead to the charger itself. This plugged into the charger via a Type A USB connector and a Micro-USB connector into the unit to be charged. As it also doubled as a USB data cable.
These cable connections soon became quite loose and made poor contact often leading to no charge being applied to the Tablet.

Not so with this charger. The lead is hard-wired into the charger body. The Micro-USB connector at the other end is also good quality with some quite robust sprung tangs to ensure that it is a snug and secure fit into the connector of the unit being charged (but no so snug that it is too difficult to remove); with an integral charging indicator LED on the charger unit it is also child's play to use.

In operation, it works very well and charges the unit quickly and efficiently without making any noise (as can sometimes be the case with switched-mode power supplies), without the charger getting too hot. The unit is also neither excessively bulky nor heavy weighing ~90grammes overall including the (~130cm length) cable.

The only (very minor) observation I have regarding the unit's build quality is that in common with most chargers it has a plastic Earth pin. This is fine from a safety perspective as the unit is double insulated, however, I imagine if you were to travel regularly and leave it rattling around in your luggage it would be more likely to be broken than a metal Earth pin.

Nevertheless, still highly recommended.

This little USB/mains charger is excellent value and so far has proved reliable. The 2A charging current provides a swift charge for my Nexus 7, but if I choose to use the USB to charge my HTC mobile phone at the same time, then with the charge current being halved to 1A it obviously is not as efficient.
However, the 2A rating makes this a superior charger to the many others limited to 1A, and seems to be well made and at a competitive price.
The long integrated cable with micro USB is a useful facility when I use the Nexus in bed! Recommend!

This is a 2 amp charger which is what you need for the Pi. It runs my Pi perfectly. Given the fact that Pi's have no on/off button, a power supply with an in cable switch might be nice - saves all that unplugging/replugging after you've powered XBMC down and when you want to boot up again. This is fine though.

This product has a dual output - one fixed micro USB and a standard USB socket situated just under the lead output. This is useful, but the output voltage suffers as the load approaches anywhere near the rated output. It does the job, but only just...

Compact and stylish with plenty of oomph to power my Raspberry Pi. USB socket is a nice touch making the product multi-purpose. Just one niggle: the power LED is too small and hardly discernible in bright ambient light.
