“¡RELEASED!” presents The Human Rights Concerts – the series of benefit concerts staged between 1986 and 1998 to raise awareness and funds for the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights organisation Amnesty International. As a companion to the 6 disc DVD box set the concerts are also being simultaneously released on a series of CDs. The second in the series is “Human Rights Now!” the historic 5-continent 20-concert world tour undertaken in 1988, which is presented here on CD for the first time. The list of musicians who contributed their services to these concerts is extraordinary and includes some of the world’s foremost artists - drawn from several nations and representing a wide range of musical styles. The primary factor uniting them was their desire to donate their time and talents to place a spotlight on Amnesty’s vital work campaigning for people whose human rights are abused. Building on the achievements of Amnesty’s legendary “Secret Policeman’s Ball” benefit shows, albums and movies - these concerts brought awareness of the cause to an ever-wider public. This new release is designed to continue that mission and raise further funds for Amnesty’s crucial work.

Brilliant cd by brilliant artists for a very good cause
tracy chapman is great, but the real highlight is springsteens songs. very powerful great recordings. 2 of the best versions your ever hear of i'm on fire and born in the usa. twist and shout is a lot of fun,
worth it for the sting/springsteen duet on the classic every breath you take
I was at this concert, in Paris, at the time. I went there to see Radiohead originaly, but found everything fantastic. Still a good memory, especially of the Bruce Springsteen acoustic set. Even Youssou N'Dour was a great surprise, and one of the highlights.
Very good idea to release that show ! Thanks.
