it looks good, but its just not that responsive when you swipe your finger over the screen. I'm sure there are some better similar games out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Copycat game with poor controls, game play is repetitive and it contains unneeded permissions, not ready for prime time yet! 26 Oct. 2012
By JJCEO - Published on Amazon.com

Game play:
This is a typical slash the object game but I was not crazy about it. On my Kindle Fire the bomb made sure that it quickly covered the pumpkin so that I cut the bomb almost every time. In addition the control of the game made me not cut pumpkins or eyes if the bomb was to close. I even cut a bomb that was off the top of the screen and you couldn't even see that it was there.

Main screen: There is none.

What I like:
The game play is Ok but I felt the game controls did not work very well.

What I don't like:
This is a copycat game with poor controls. Many times I would slice an object and it would not cut after trying multiple times. The bombs seem to move intentionally to get in the way and when you cannot slice a pumpkin or eyeball, you sure can nick a bomb very easily. On my Kindle Fire the opportunity to slice something and not have it work got worse as the game progressed.

The game is very repetitive and like most slicing games you will tire of the same game play. The game does use full internet control and Kindle state but it has no menus, links to the web or nothing else that would require the permissions. Reading Kindle state and ID is one of my least favorite permissions and when it is coupled with network permissions it can be dangerous. The Android version on Google does not ask for this permission so why is it in this version?

This game to me has a more faults than good features. It is a copycat game with slicing controls that don't work properly. It has permissions I don't care for that are added into this Amazon version that are not in the Google version.

The game just seems rushed to market to make the Halloween holiday and it is not fully polished yet. With nothing creative, permissions it doesn't need and poor controls I rate it a one star app.

Size: This app is 11.46 MB uncompressed.

* Network communications - Full internet access
* Kindle Calls - read Kindle state and identity
* Network communication - view network access
* Hardware controls - control vibrator

1.0 out of 5 stars This poorly made Fruit Ninja clone with dangerous permissions seems like an unfinished "Introduction to Android" assignment. 26 Oct. 2012
By Samuel Mitchell - Published on Amazon.com

Slashing Pumpkins is yet another poorly made Fruit Ninja clone, but this time it's Halloween themed and looks to be created for the sole purpose of cashing in on the "holiday".

The object of this so called game is to endlessly slash pumpkins and other "spooky" objects that are thrown at you, while avoiding bombs. That's all there is to it. There is no menu, no options, and no exit button. This really was thrown together in a few minutes using publicly available images and sound files.

Other than the (mostly stolen) graphics, I see nothing decent about this app.

The Good:

- OK graphics. The background and some of the pumpkins really do look cool. Too bad most of them seem to be the hard work of other people.

The Bad:

- Five star review from a user that gave a similar rating to another iPREPpress LLC product.

- Lame sound effects. It is the same three sounds over and over again. The slashing (when you miss), impact (when you hit something), and boom (when the bomb explodes) sound.

- Boring gameplay. If you played the game for 30 seconds, you already saw everything that it has to offer.

- Bad controls and detection. Slicing an object doesn't always register properly, or the slice is way off. Not good in a game that only has one interaction.

- Countless other issues, but I don't want to go off on one of my three page "rants".

The Ugly:

- Incredibly dangerous Permissions (explained below):

-- Read only access to phone state - This permission gives an application access to the IMEI, IMSI, and your phone number (as well as incoming and outgoing calls). So think of it as a massive tracking cookie that keeps tabs on everything you do, and that you had no choice in installing.
Many software developers use this permission to track purchases and piracy. However the potential for disaster is huge here. A lot of companies will pay good money to get the information above, and once that falls into their hands...

-- Open network sockets - This permission gives an application free range Internet access.

-- Access information about networks - This permissions "informs" the device on what kind of networks you are running.

I have NO idea why all these permissions are required in a single player game! There are no ads, no reason to connect to the internet, NOTHING in this game should require the permissions that are included with it.

Game - 1/5
Permissions - 1/5
Combined - 1/5

This game is pure garbage and is a waste of Amazon's great FAOTD program. Honestly both Amazon and iPREPpress LLC should be ashamed for having the audacity to sell this half baked piece of junk.
Slashing Pumpkins is NOT worth the free download, and certainly not worth the $.99 asking price.

1.0 out of 5 stars An App That Definitely Deserves 0 Stars As a Paid App Since It Is a "Bare Bones" App 26 Oct. 2012
By WASH ST. GAMER - Published on Amazon.com

I want to disclose that I got this as the Free App of the Day from Amazon today.

The app is so bad for a paid app, I don't know where to even begin!

My main problem is that they are charging for this. This game DOES work, but it LACKS EVERYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD EXPECT IN A PAID APP!

There are NO menus, instructions, options, credits, high score lists, etc. This just feels like a type-in game from an old 1980's computer magazine like Compute where only the bare bones game was offered with little or no extra features to make it simpler to type in. The main reason people typed these games in from those old computer magazines was because computer games were priced like $30 for a single game back then and this was a very cheap legal alternative as opposed to making illegal copies of commercial software.

There appears to be no difficulty levels so it becomes dull and boring very quickly.

This is an app where the developer SHOULD PAY US to play it for testing since it is incomplete. Therefore I would give this 0 stars as a paid app and maybe 1 or 2 stars if it were free like it should have been.

By the way, I lied about the lack of options. There is actually a pause feature. It happens when you sit there leaving this app running without doing anything since there is no penalties in this game for not doing anything! That is how bad this app really is!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but has issues 26 Oct. 2012

The game is very cute. But very laggy and jumpy. It's an easy paced fruit ninja game for the young kids. pumpkins are cute and scary, eyeballs are strange. Wasn't sure if they were ok to slash at first. There are no options to turn the sounds off our down, had to mute the device :( the developers didnt put much thought or time into this app, would not be happy if I had paid for it, but it's good for faotd. if the develops fix the lag and add options for settings, I will change the review.
The first 2 five star reviews are obviously from the developers.
2.0 out of 5 stars Unexciting and frustrating 11 Nov. 2012

I tried this product when it was the free Amazon App of the Day, and was fairly disappointed. The game premise is very simple, pumpkins pop up in the air and you slash them with your finger on a touch-screen device. There are items you want to avoid, which will end your game. And that is all. I am able to play most any game for a sustained amount of time to see if the repetition is fun, or at least a challenge. With this game, it seemed to get old quickly for me. Additionally, it was hit-and-miss for accuracy: I would slash at a pumpkin and it wouldn't do anything, or it would hit one of the taboo-game-ending objects when it was OBVIOUS that I hadn't slashed at them. There are plenty of other free games out there that are better ways to spend your time.
