The Nelson Trust is a local Charity established in 1985 based in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and soon to be opening our new women’s centre in Somerset. We offer life-changing interventions and rehabilitation for those with complex, traumatic histories and addictions to drugs and alcohol. The women we work with often have multiple complex needs and are homeless, without employment, experiencing family breakdown, have been domestically abused, experienced rape and exploitation in childhood and may have been trafficked or coerced into the sex trade. That’s why in 2013 our Sex Worker Outreach Project was set up which specifically supports women who are involved in street based sex working to fund their addiction.
Last year we worked with 134 hard-to-reach vulnerable women and girls across Gloucester, Swindon and Wiltshire. 39% of these engagements were through our night outreach services in Gloucester and 51% from Swindon where we provide food, hot drinks, clothes, toiletries, contraception and new underwear. During the winter months there is also a heavy demand for umbrellas, hats, scarves, gloves, socks and blankets.
We are hugely grateful for the support of our community. Please do donate whatever you can and please feel free to share this message.
