The film opens with a nurse (Eliza Taylor) in a creepy building getting a needle to her eye. During the opening credits we discover a nurse is missing. The headlines also tell us Dr. Roget (Charles Dance) is genius and a "Dr. Frankenstein" when it comes to treating comas. He has a clinic in said creepy building. Kathy (Sharni Vinson) is the replacement nurse. She works for Cassidy (Rachel Griffiths) the stereotypical stern matron who is also Roget's daughter. She also works with Nurse Williams (Peta Sergeant) who likes her vices. Rumor is Cassidy's husband killed himself to get away from her. She tells Kathy her "pay is minimal, hours abdominal, and termination without notice."

There are about a dozen patients with involuntary spitter Patrick (Jackson Gallagher) being a special case. Kathy takes an interest in Patrick as it appears he is not really comatose. However, he only responds to Kathy, a woman who has issues. It appears Patrick is taking over her life.

This is a good little Australian horror/thriller. It is not really a mystery, but has mystery elements. Horror aspect smartly builds with the standard opening teaser.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Sharni Vinson, Simone Buchanan)

Why remake a B-Movie into the same beast? Patrick was a chilling great little gem from the late 70's with Susan Penghilgan that has now been remade in to a chiller with Rachel Griffiths and Charles Dance. The guy who plays patrick in this modern one looks identical to the older 1. Sharni Wilson is also in this as yet another scream queen after Your Next. Patrick is in a coma in a hospital and starts to make a connection with a nurse.

Not a bad film, but not a classic either. Decent story with decent acting but something was missing, worth a go if you can pick it up cheap enough.

A decent remake of the 1978 horror classic Patrick (1978) (35th Anniversary Edition) Blu-Ray (Region A, B, C)
Nurse Kathy (Sharni Vinson) starts a new job at a remote hospital that looks after comatose patients and takes a special interest in one patient Patrick who, unlike the other patients, has his own separate room and receives special attention from the doctor (Charles Dance) and Matron (Rachel Griffiths).
It's a decent well paced movie that slowly builds up the suspense as a series of strange and increasingly sinister events occur and Kathy realises that Patrick is not all he seems.
It definitely misses the wide eyed menace that Robert Helpmann managed to portray in the original film but that apart it's a movie that I'll definitely be watching again.
The only extra is a trailer.

A very decent remake but the original is, overall, much better. Be warned, however. Most of the scenes are shot in low light levels with a 'colour drainage' effect. Dreadful. Certainly not a kind viewing experience when you find yourself straining your eyes to see what is actually happening on the screen. No doubt the makers feel that this a good modern effect technique. It isn't modern and it isn't good either. It looks what it is: drained colour which is set at low light levels. Awful. Bring back good old Technicolour!

Charles Dance is awesome, but even he couldn't save this film. I found it hard to care about the characters, the reasons for things happening were a mess and it was just slow, dull and random. There were several 'heroine wakes up' parts so the whole movie could have been a dream. I was relieved when it ended.

Saw this advertised on Netflix. Put it on to watch whilst doing some homework. Had to stop the homework and watch it from the very beginning. Great film, a great cast. Really enjoyed it, didnt think it was scary just a great thriller.

A small cast but a good film all the same. Charles Dance makes a good evil doctor. Very entertaining!
