Having got to the stage where my 4 year old autistic son seems to be wanting to watch movies about dogs this was surprisingly well made and watchable as an adult!
The premise as with every kids film involves evil scientist, time travelling robotic dog and evil robotic cat, adventurous boy and girl and policeman dad.
The story was easy to understand, the effects good, nothing too scary, good moral lessons and a nice soundtrack!!

Much better than some dross I am having to watch nowadays!!

Purchased as a huge fan of Ben Browder and wasn't disappointed. Ben is excellent as is the norm. Its a great movie for the kids with Ben playing James' Dad brilliantly. Well worth a buy if you love Ben and don't mind watching a kiddie movie. Big Thumbs Up.

Considering the small budget, the script, acting, sets and special effects of this kid's film are pretty good. As the story goes, young James is devoted to Rex, his Labrador Retriever, and only friend. A robotic dog by the name of RoboRex turns up one day in his garden, and tells James that he has come from the future to stop the evil Professor Apocalypse from taking over the world. This leads to a watchable adventure.

'Adventures of Roberex' uses a lot of science fiction which will probably endear it to the young viewer, but that's probably it. Ideal as a stocking filler for the kids at Christmas, or a pleasant watch on a rainy day, the movie is an average, but watchable low-key children's film. It's not one that the adults are likely to enjoy, it's primary audience is that of young children, but it has quite a retro feel, and for a straight-to-DVD kids film, I have to say that there have been a lot worse.

This is one of those movies that you watch only once, as there's nothing in it to 'grab' you. Even the children it's aimed at won't want to watch it again, as there are many - and much better - other films available to choose from.

This film has all the ingredients of a box office hit: a cute young boy who's also a genius, a pretty litte girl who likes all the things he does, an extemely loving and loveable dog and a parent who doesn't believe his wild tales and who keeps telling him that he needs to be more responsibe. Oh, and let's not forget the bullies, the evil genious and a 'missing' mother.

All the components are there, but this picture lacks the most important thing of all - the magic that grabs you and makes you feel something for the characters and their situation.

Since the word 'Adventures' - plural, not just one adventure - in the title suggests that someone is hoping to make this into a children's series, I can only hope that before they start throwing wads of cash at it that they read these reviews. If they *do* run a series from this, I feel fairly confident in saying that it won't last beyond a season. I'm giving this film 2 stars because it's not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's definitey once of the most mediocre.
