i guess its harder for a frivolous sex comedy to remain interesting for 6 seasons in the way that more gritty shows like breaking bad or the sopranos did. this is still worth watching if you are a fan but it feels like they've ran out of ideas. tim minchin's role as the sex addict washed up rock star doesn't help proceedings

Great series but i think the show has lost its way since the heights of the first few seasons. Still packed fill with great lines and characters but it is some what starting to get all to repetative. would recommend but season 2 and 3 are far better

Preferred the first few series of Californication. I'm actually glad to see it finish here and it wasn't that great. Worth buying if you've seen the other 5 but might be a little disappointed by the quality of the episodes.

Well that was mostly embarrassing. The first 5 seasons were excellent, but it's now turned into a cartoon. I still managed to watch it 'til the end, but some of the episodes were just plain awful (as one other reviewer noted, the scene with the hologram at funeral is where it jumped the shark). Yes, I'll still watch the next season, but they really need to get away from the 'crazy famous person hires Hank to write blah blah whilst the rest of the cast just do slapstick and see how many swear words and sexual deviance they can fit in an episode' formula. Previous seasons were the right mix of funny, intelligent and risqué...fingers crossed for season 7!

"Worst intervention everrrrrrr" Hank Moody is a legend. For those new to Californication you need to watch Seasons 1-5 before watching this instalment. For seasoned veterans there is no need to review as this is a must have addition.

A real shame, and a real sham. Season four was a hard act to follow thus season five was acceptable with some high points. This season drifts seamlessly from embarrassing to humiliating and frankly I feel sorry for the series regulars, especially Duchovny, having to demean themselves in this way. One bit of relief from the nonsense is the blossoming relationship between Hank and Faith, where we see a glimmer of commitment from Hank and an alternative side to his usual MO. However, this really is the only element worth watching, the rest is bloated, over hyped slap stick and seriously unfunny. Should have hired some other writers, as Becca say's 'you can't polish a turd.'

one of my favourite shows of the last 5 years. Although this series was extremely funny, it is clear that the format is getting repetitive, but due to the excellent cast, they still manage to amuse. Glad the next series will be the last , as I don't want it limping on to eventually become boring.
