Not the best zombie film ever made but not the worst either. It is somewhere in the middle though. Good original story and decent acting by some big names like Nick Moran from Lock Stock, Katharine Isabelle from Ginger Snaps and Jesse Moss from Final Destination, it was just let down by the pumped up zombies on steroids which is a shame as this could have been up there with the best of them. Definitely worth a watch though.

Watched this on the Horror Channel last night. I actually thought that it was very scary in parts, given the dank and creepy nature of the location and the need to investigate rotting corpses. That said, I was disappointed that the "zombies" seemed to be able to run as quickly as those being pursued, and that they were not immediately killed by bullets or stakes through the head. Agreed, the gas masks and helicopters on the cover make no sense. Finally, a better conclusion would have been an attempt by the survivors to grab the car keys and drive off, rather than leaving the viewer to wonder about their fate. I shall not be buying this DVD, but would certainly watch it again on TV.

The cover of the DVD is very deceptive as the movie is NOTHING like the picture on the front. Pretty lame, surprised to see Katherine Isabel and Michael Shanks in this. Not the worst I've seen, but it could have been so much better!

"13 Eerie" is a modest budget 1980s-style horror indie film from Canada. The acting (as much as is required in films like these) is very solid and the visceral gory bits nicely done. The story itself is nothing original, but is well filmed, with a good pace and the "1980s" feel is remarkably well realised.

------spoilers------

A group of six student of forensics, head off for a field test to the abandoned island of 13 eerie, which used to be the site of a prison, along with their examiner Prof. Tomkins (Michael Shanks) and a driver, cook and general support, ex-con, "Larry" (Nick Moran). While the local mortician has positioned three corpses for the students to examine, they quickly uncover additional ones which turn out not to be so dead after all and come a-munchin. The students mostly do the usual stupid things; wandering around in the woods on their own, "I'm just gonna take a look", etc. The professor is probably more stupid than the students (refusing to believe a student when they find another body, generally shouting at people like some demented drill instructor and wandering about outside the safety of the cabin, to see if he's killed one of the monsters or not) I wouldn't take his class, if I had the choice.

The lead is taken Katherine Isabelle as "Megan", who is pretty handy with a variety of implements against the undead. I'm not sure if the monsters are technically "zombies" or not. Their origin is never really explained (something about experiments performed on life-tariff prisoners on the island). They do seem to be pretty well preserved and, well, breathing, from what I could see.

This will never go down as a classic, but it is a fun entertaining entry in the genre.
As long as you don't go in looking for deeper meanings or any wonderful dialogue, it's just simply fun and entertaining. And what's wrong with that? :)

Rubbish !!!!!!!!!
No idea what the front cover is about ( no helicopters , prison buildings or any of the characters on the cover ) .
Eight people in some woodland and 2 wooden shacks are systematically terrorised and killed by three zombies in prison jumpsuits .
The zombies are pretty cool and look like a lot of effort went into the costumes and the gore effects are pretty good , but the story focuses on the events that happened in a derelict prison but takes place in 2 wooden shacks . The film drags and drags right to it's obvious and foreseeable conclusion !
