When this was orderd, it said no where on it that it was for region 1, this meant that I could not play it on my dvd player and had to watch the whole series on my laptop.

If it was not a great series that I wanted to see the end of, I would have sent it back.

You need to make sure that you are getting the right dvd's for this country, as this did not say.

This was an entertaining series of Eureka. I wouldn’t say ‘run of the mill’, but it was of the same quality as the previous series, so if you enjoyed them, then you will find this to be as good, and if you didn’t…

The first episode is a Christmas special, so if you were hoping to find out what happened to the Astraeus crew, you’ll have to go to episode two (and three, and…). The Christmas special sees an attempt to generate a white Christmas using a quantum something-or-other go wrong, and the town and cast end up in a series of animated sequences as their perceptions are altered and they see reality through the eyes of computer game characters. There are a number of different styles of animation used, from the old fashioned cartoon to stop-motion and CGI.

The opening episode of the ‘regularly scheduled’ story sees the Astraeus crew land back on Earth four years in the future due to an act of sabotage at the launch. Eureka has now been put under the administration of an AI as CEO – Sara the house, and Deputy Andy is now in charge of security. It is a bit of a 1984 situation, but the crew manage to liberate the town and settle down, despite some social changes.

The second episode sees the Eureka cast in the present struggle to track down the ship and work out what happened. Eventually the crew is reunited with their colleagues in the present, though not without losses, and the ‘future’ Eureka, and the lost crewmember are themes that run through the rest of the series – though not dominating it, and everything is wrapped up before the final episode, in which the Department of Defence sells off Eureka. However, a character from a very old adventure pops in to try and help out…

As I said above, this series is of a matching quality with the recent ones, so if you enjoyed them, you will enjoy this; even the ending.

The description did not say which area code. Naturally, being in UK, I assumed a region 2, but it turned out to be region 1 which cannot be played in Europe. Bummer!

In an arena of TV shows where violence, gore and special effects have replaced good writing, it was a real pleasure to come across this series Not only that but unlike many similar well written shows it actually managed to get beyond the first series. This final series managed to recapture the magic of the first 2 and I just loved how they ended it. The vast majority of people reading this will have walked the same journey as me with 'Eureka' and so will understand what I am talking about, but if you haven't, do yourself a favour and purchase the first series. Its just a shame that neither ITV or BBC picked up this series.

I came late to the series as I do not watch this type of program on T.V. It has a tendency to pass time and never get anywhere.

Once you realize there is just a more recent "Days of Our Lives" and quit looking for a cohesive story, you can enjoy each unique episode. Just understand the there are no great insights just fun watching how they put it together. We have to create a psychological situation an antagonist and let the main character solve the situation all in 42 minutes.

Looks closely and periodically there is product name recognition like "Cisco Systems."
On season two they did the one thing that really irks me; Episode 12 and 13 have a "To be Continued".

For those people contemplating the series or just interested here is a quickie overview of Eureka (2006 TV series). The down contains mostly scientific types that work for secret government project in a hidden facility nearby. Someone or thing is always getting into trouble (mostly from experiments) and need a down-to-earth sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) to help interpret and solve the problem. Jack has problems of his own trying to relate to women, including his teenage daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson). On the sinister side is some mysterious cabal who's only known member to us is psychiatrist Beverly Barlowe (Debrah Farentino).

every once in a while Eureka crosses over with Warehouse 13.

I love this show and so do several members of my family. I bought this set to complete my brothers collection and was really surprised when he said it was region one. I am quite annoyed that the seller does not list this.

I only hate it because I couldn't watch it! There is no indication on the Amazon web site that this particular edition of Series 5 could only be seen in Region 1 and not in the UK. Consequently I have sent it back to the supplier and am still waiting to get my money back. I would seriously like to also receive the postage as the supplier is in Switzerland but whether this will happen remains to be seen. Details on the website should have been clearer so that buyers do not have to make this kind of mistake and consequently be out of pocket. I have always been extremely pleased with service from Amazon but this time I feel seriously let down.
