Outnumbered 6 Seasons 2007

Season 1
4.8 out of 5 stars (146) IMDb 7.7/10

Outnumbered follows the daily chaos of family life with two parents and three young children locked in an unequal contest. Containing strong elements of improvisation, this comedy is an honest portrayal of the well meaning parental incompetence that happens in most homes.

Just discovered this gem of a comedy the other week on BBC.
Can't understand how this beautifully scripted and acted comedy has not been given more publicity.
The kids are absolutely brilliant and natural.
So glad it is available on DVD as I wasn't even aware of it first time around.

I originally watched this when it was first out on the BBC & thought it was the funniest comedy for a very long time. I am now watching the second series & can't wait for that to be available on DVD so that I can watch it at will.
When you realise that much of this series is improvised, it just makes it all the more impressive, especially the children. However the acting from all the cast is superb. Let's hope there is a 3rd & 4th series.

This is a true gem in the crown of British comedy.
Whether you are a parent, a spouse, or neither, this will give you plenty to laugh about. The writing is just perfect, and the characters are so true to life. The children are the real stars of the show though.

Watch this - you're missing a treat!

I caught a re-run of this on TV only a couple of weeks ago completely by chance having never heard of this series before. What can I say apart from this is just jaw droppingly brilliant! The children are astonishing, the adult leads are perfectly underplayed, the family conversations are so true to life (any family is bound to recognise most of these) that I end up squirming with recognition.... If you don't have a young family, this is by far the most realistic depiction of how it actually is. If you DO have a young family..you'll be laughing, and crying with laughter, at the same time. Easily the best sitcom on UK TV for ages.

Was just trying to remember back to when I laughed so much at a 30 minute television comedy. It was possibly 'Fawlty Towers'! ... Is that 30 odd years ago? Brilliant - dont miss it, and get to see both series of course ! Any more like this and people will start watching TV again!

Well... what can I say? Outnumbered is absolutely fantastic. It is a hilarious sitcom which is completely devoid of that forced laughter and atmosphere that you find in other comedy programmes of its genre. Due to the semi-improvisation it has a very 'real' feel to it, providing loads of laughs -mainly due to the faboulous child actors. As well as being funny, it also has a sensitive side which tackles very real issues in family life, occasionally being rather bittersweet.
I would highly reccomend you buy this DVD - no doubt you will sympathise with the situations the fab characters find themselves in! The seconds series is equally fantastic - I will definitely be buying it when it's available!

This is a quite remarkable piece of work which is much more than the beautifully observed sitcom which it appears to be...

What you must remember is that the peformances of the three amazing children are largely improvised...I think this makes this production as innovative as the early Mike Leigh pieces in terms of its dramatic approach and impact.

This is landmark TV which is head and shoulders above other comedies - thank god the BBC has supported the writers in producing a new series but this one is well worth buying....

This is the BBC at its best - I first watched just for Hugh Dennis after seeing him in My Hero, which didn't show how wonderful he is and even though he was good on Mock the week I was worried he wasn't going to be able to pull this one off but I am happy to say I was so wrong. Claire Skinner and Hugh are what make the show what it is; you believe the relationship between them and I hope the person whose job it was to find and cast the 3 children got a good pay rise. Each of them pulls of every line with ease and sincerity. All of them put together are what makes this show something everyone in the family will enjoy.
