Young love, old love, love forever, lost love and love that's been there right from the start. Valentine's Day packs a fantastic star-studded cast from the likes of big names like Julia Roberts and Ashton Kutcher to newbies like the Taylors (Swift + Lautner) as it shows the amazing and very different types of love. From the offset, you can see that this is a romantic comedy and you may instantly think 'oh look, another sappy, love-dovey rom-com'. Don't. This films packs a serious punch and isn't just another soppy box-office filler. This is pure cinematic gold (if you're into rom-coms) and it's also easy to see why the film did so well at the box-office, besides the fact that it had a really famous all-star cast!

There are quite a few couples in the film, as well as some singletons, and each character has their own unique flaws and greatnesses that accentuates the films allegory of 'love is different, embrace it'. I can't say too much without giving the plot-lines away but I can say that as a person who cries at films less than a person with no tear-ducts, I cried whilst watching Valentine's Day 5 TIMES. Honestly, the film is so charming and heart-warming, and while it may sound like a far too over-used cliché, it really tugged at my heartstrings. Oh-no-my-eyes-are-watering love stuff aside, this movie also provides some fairly surprising twists.

I can really say no bad about this film, apart from the fact that I would have loved to see more of the wonderful comedian George Lopez, he's hilarious in the film (!) and the fact that I could make a an entire game out of pointing out all of the incredible famous people wasn't the best either.

This film got terrible reviews but I still went to see it on its opening weekend at the cinema. I am a big fan of rom coms and I thought this film was good, but not as good as it could have been.

The different couples are fun and interesting but there arent many that you will really be rooting for. And although the stories about the couples were interesting, Id say there is really only one that will tug at the heartstrings.

This film is a bit like an American Love Actually and I think that comparison is what lets it down. Love Actually is brilliant and heart-warming and so if you see this film with idea that it will be as good, you will be let down.

Having said that this film is funny, and well just nice really. I'm going to get the dvd when it comes out. It will definitely brighten up a dull afternoon.

A wealth of stars old and new are dovetailed into stories in director Garry Marshall's latest romantic comedy. Like Love Actually, the plot - from a story by Katherine Fugate and the scriptwriters of He's Just Not That into You - looks at love from a number of different angles during a very American Valentine's Day. The movie centres on Reed Bennett (Ashton Kutcher), a florist who, on the busiest day of the year, finds his love life agitated by his fiancée Morley Clarkson (Jessica Alba) and his best friend Julia Fitzpatrick (Jennifer Garner), who's fallen for a married man. Julia Roberts appears, in lock-down mode, as an army captain flying home for one day, while Taylor Swift is ditzy and enchanting in her debut role as the high-school sweetheart of then real-life boyfriend Taylor Lautner. Light, breezy, sentimental and amusing, Valentine's Day is delightful and cringe-making by turns as it sums up the heady pressures and potentially pivotal nature of the event. There'll be a favourite tale for everyone, but it's unlikely that anyone will like them all.

Ok, let me start by saying that I simply don't understand why this movie is getting such harsh reviews. The comparison to Love, Actually is a fair one but I didn't sit there thinking while it was on, "Oh, they're trying to make an American version of Love, Actually". There are some quite obvious likenesses but this film stands very well on it's own merit in my opinion.

It tells the stories of many couples in love who are all interlinked in some way or another. For example, Ashton Kutcher's character proposes to Jessica Alba and he's best friends with Jennifer Garner. There are too many links to mention without giving away the plot but believe me, it's very interesting to watch it all unfold.

The acting is very good all around, although I found Taylor Swift's character too annoying for words! Julia Roberts is great to see after such a long break from acting while she concentrated on being a mum. There's some added out takes after the movie finishes too and she does a great line from Pretty Woman. Her story actually had me crying at the end and Bradley Cooper's was the one that made me go "Awwwwww".

To sum it up then, PLEASE don't be put off by the bad reviews, especially if you're a fan of rom coms as this has all you could ask for in one. There are plenty of laughs to go along with the smoooches. Fantatsic film, well done again Garry Marshall!
