I took my daughter to see this at the cinema and was not disappointed.

The French always have a different slant on films and it was a joy to see an animation with great depth and character that veered away from the old Hollywood formula and in truth, put much of what the American market has to produce, in the shade.

Whilst the film is initially slow to pick up the story, it soon moves at a good pace when the 'monster' (a giant singing flea) comes to life.

The flea is without doubt the star of the film. His magnificent stature and fabulous clothes make him a striking figure. His beautiful singing voice is supplied by the sweetly toned Sean Lennon.

The dance routines between the flea and the female lead are pure joy and the chase scenes are rivetting.

The soundtrack is fabulous and possibly the real selling point behind this film - the CD/download will be well worth investigating.

And finally, the moral behind the film is strong. Without giving much away, the viewer has to ask him/herself, who is the REAL monster of Paris?

All in all, this is a terrific film which pleased both my 11 year old daughter and I on different levels.

Already taken my younger brother to see this twice, and neither of us were disappointed. It was funny, charming, touching and beautifully set. The songs are sung perfectly by the main character, Frank, a giant singing flea(Sean Lennon)and the main female character, Lucille (Vanessa Paradis), and every one of the characters have been given depth and indidviuality and each tie into the plot well. I would recommend this film to anyone, no matter what the age, who wants to see something completely unique and just enjoys watching a feel-good film.

What a smashing film this is! A host of sympathetically drawn characters, a plot that's a little like a blend of Frankenstein, The Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and some great musical numbers to boot. The film never puts a foot wrong, and is a premier-class experience from beginning to end. C'est magnifique!

I love animated films and this one did not disappoint, it is beautifully written and it is very different from the kind of animated films Disney or Pixar usually produce but it was still brilliant in its own little way.

I adore Paris and it made it even better that this film is set around this beautiful city in the 1910's.
I also have to say I fell in love with the 'monster' - this film is perfect if you are looking for something to watch with kids.

A perfect film with a really positive theme that should have got alot more praise and advertising than it did, I can't wait to watch it again.

Bought this for the 3D because I thought it was a bargain. We all found it very slow and the kids got bored very quickly none of us could sit and watch to the end. The 3D was a waste of time I didn't even think it was the right dvd at first because there was practically no difference. I must have been watching a different film to some of the others who have reviewed it.

This review is purely for the 3D Experience , but Not for the movie. As for the animation movies, 3D works great (at least for a greater depth). But Not for this one..The depth is decent (Not Great)through out every scene, but don't expect any pop-out (even for one scene). As shown here on Amazon site, it's NOT 1 disc, but you get 2 discs, 1 DVD and 1 Blu-ray(3D+2D) and you will get a Nice slip case which is also not shown here. As for the movie, I can give 5/5 rating, but for 3D only 4/5 (if not 3.5/5), because there are plenty of elements in this movie, which can work for 3D. You can't compare this 3D to the Amazing 3D animation experiences (Megamind, How to train your dragon, Kungfu Panda 1&2, Cars 2, Lion King or Beauty and the Beast 3D etc..), but the 3D is good. Blu-ray disc has a Gnomeo & Juliet 3D trailer, 3 extras (All just about characters). If you liked the movie and if you DON'T expect a greater depth and pop-out, but satisfied with a decent depth, you will like this. I pre-ordered & got mine for £11, so it's a deal for me. I am not into too much pop-out, but even if it has got a greater depth, I would have given it a 5/5 rating..

My 5 year old son loves this film. Surprisingly 3 year old daughter is not as captivated. 3D effects don't really stand out but it is a lovely film. My son loves the soundtrack and has watched the film several times and is now singing along. He usually likes superhero films so I was surpised he enjoyed this so much. Worth watching but no need to buy 3D version to enjoy.
