I bought this as a gift for my brother in law and it was very well received. Very amusing to lighten the day of a serious crafter. Not sure if he made any of the items. I was tempted to keep it for myself.

Although the book has a section on health and safety I need to stress the importance of checking that pins and staples are completely removed from your work before use - probably best avoided altogether. Also, in the rush to test out the various projects you may be tempted to put your creations into service before adhesives (don't use water soluable glues) have been allowed to dry properly. Don't risk it, particularly if you are one of those unfortunate people who have sideburns down the inside of your thighs. Also, one of the projects requires a rather large salami and you would be wise to check that it is up to the job as a visit to A & E to recover the missing broken section could prove embarrassing. If you are slightly hesitant or anxious about this particular project, why not try it out on a family pet beforehand? I really do think it's best to be on the safe side here. On a different note, I did wonder if some of the projects (eg crocheted gimp mask) might prove useful fund raisers for the local Womans' Institute or church fair. And finally a word of warning, despite the lovely hand penned illustrations, I don't think this book would make a terribly good mothers' day gift.

Bought this for my wife as a joke present which she found it funny. Don't think I'll be making any of the "toys" though!

Bough this for my friend as a joke, he took quite a shining to this and he has thoroughly enjoyed it as well as finding "many uses" for the in depth activities.

Book arrived promptly and in very good condition so kudos to the seller there. However there was not a "look inside" option on amazon, not just for this seller but all the sellers possibly for fear of "graphic content". So the book was purchased on a whim.

I would say the book is a novelty as the "toys" it lists to make are mostly lame and you probably tried or thought about them in your horny teens, i.e putting a Nokia 3210 in a condom and ringing yourself.

I guess I was hoping for latex castings/ bonding and patterns for cuffs and collars, so the book is very much on the basic side.

That said it is a funny read and when you accidentally leave it in the lounge and friends come over, you all have a good laugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny more than useful

I bought this book because I work in sex therapy and I thought it would potentially be interesting, it is literally exactly what the name of the book says.
Now that being said, I'm not sure if the book was meant to actually be useful or if it's meant to be more of a funny coffee table book. I would absolutely only recommend it for the latter because the great majority of the toys in this book are far from safe.
Still, I'm happy with the purchase since my colleagues and I got a good laugh out of it.

1.0 out of 5 stars not something that looks like the afghan your granny made
Reviewed in the United States on 20 March 2015
The toys in this book are not exciting. Many of them are sewing or crocheting projects. Aesthetically they are mostly appalling, which is kind of a big deal when you're talking sex. You want something sexy, not something that looks like the afghan your granny made, or something your son made in wood shop.
