Lovely book that provides the better known Discworld artwork together with excellent descriptions to explain where the images fit into the stories. I also have Discworld Imaginarium which is mainly artwork images and few explanations so if I could only have one of the two it would be The art of Discworld as while there are less images the explanations really bring them to life.

Great addiction to any Discworld Library. I bought this for my boyfriend who is Discworld mad. (Aren't we all?) He absolutely love this book and showed it off to his brother (another Discworld fan) who was very jealous.
R.I.P Sir Terry Pratchett. You will always be remembered for your fabulous mind.

Like nearly all of the Discworld tie-ins I've encountered, this is surprisingly good. Paul Kidby's drawings and paintings are stunning, and I gained a lot of insight into the characters, places and development of the Discworld and Ankh Morpork through the commentary provided by both Pratchett and Kidby. Pratchett in particular, is candid with his opinions on how the work of both Kidby and Josh Kirby correspond to his mental images of his characters.

As my title says, this book is a sheer delight for fans of Discworld and its creators (I include Mr. Kidby, who has certainly created the look of the place). The keen and persistent fan has doubtless seen a few of these, though probably not all; but the commentary, and the combinations, bring them all to life...sometimes frighteningly so. Good fun, and canny, perceptive writing and artwork - what more can you ask for?

A treat for Discworld fans and a chance to see whether there is a match-up between the mental images conjured by the stories and these illustrations by Paul Kidby. The bonus is the extra details and unlooked for treasures provided in the pictures: things to pore over and enjoy.

brilliant illustrations, nice size format, a good range of characters, with just the right anount of text to give you some context without detracting from the artwork. i just wish there were a few more of some of the more minor characters to spice it up a little
