This is an 'immediate thoughts' review, having just received mine. The sound on this thing is to absolutely kill for. Am not a big devotee of crazy light patterns, but they're here if you want them. Personally I foresee myself just leavingt all the backlighting on, cos in its natural on state, it's just sweetly cool.

Tactility and response is more than I could have dreamed of - I know, I know, there are people out there who know far too much about switches and actuation-points and suhlike. Good for you. For me, this has a feeling somewhere between a sturdy electronic typewriter and an early computer keyboard, that satisfying, even reassuring clunk when you press the keys that gives a sense of meaning, of weight to what you write.

I'm no kind of gamer - I bought this keyboard to write with. And for that, it's going to be excellent. The only thing that gives me any initial pause is that the feet don't seem to raise the back end up very high, so it still feels quite flat to the desk. Still, that said, it types like a dreeeeeam, so who knows, maybe that won't be any kind of issue.

As I say, these are just initial thoughts - if they change at all with extended use, I'll come back and let you know. But for now, oh heck to the yes with the Geezer keyboard.

Geezer keyboard. Great name.

This keyboard uses Cherry MX Blue key switch clones, backlit in multiple colours. Looks very garish, like a '70s discotheque. Luckily, you can switch the lights off.

But, the keys feel great. Very clicky, with slightly more resistance than the other MX Blue clones I have tried (Razor, NooPoo). I prefer them.

In the super cheap keyboard stakes, one must compare like with like. I also have a Noopoo Lolita Spider which looks almost the same as the Geezer, but is not backlit and has taller (nicer) keys. The Noopoo board is heavier and has a more solid feel than the Geezer and the key springs are lighter as already mentioned. The keyclick sounds better too, less hollow than the Geezer. Better quality plastic used on the keys, although they tend to reflect light, and this hides the key legends (one of the reasons I bought the Geezer).

So. Geezer for switch feel and backlight, Noopoo for higher apparent quality.

Since the Geezer is cheap as chips, it seems to me that one could modify it to suit my tastes. I took it apart to find out how feasible this would be.

Dismantling the keyboard is easy, there are about 7 screws under the key tops and you only need to remove the tops around the screws to get access. The key puller tool which comes in the box is invaluable here. Makes it much easier to remove the tops without damaging them.

To make the colours uniform, youi need to replace the mulitcoloured LEDs with single colour equivalents. The Geezer's LEDs are surface mount (SMD) types, 3.2mm x 1.65mm such as you can find for a few quid per hundred on various sites which I won't mention here. Probably on Amazon too.Read more ›

This is a really good keyboard for typing.

I suffer from repetitive strain injury on a couple of my fingers and most keyboards are quite spongy and have to have a heavy touch, which increases the pain.

This keyboard only needs a very light touch and once you turn off the LED lighting, this keyboard becomes a great workhorse for business or personal use, a real pleasure to type on (mechanical keys are louder so be aware of that).

It doesn't have a number pad, but I don't use them anyway and like the small form factor of the keyboard.

What an excellent keyboard for the money. It have lovely, clicky, MX blues (which I think are Gateron rather than Cherry but are very similar)
The backlighting is bright but can be dimmed. My only complaint with it is that you can't change the colours. It is always a rainbow but I'm not complaining for the money.
If you've always wanted to try a mechanical keyboard but don't want to sink £100+ then get this one. To be honest, I'm no longer looking at buying a more expensive one as this one is pretty much perfect.

but not RGB just a line of blue then red ,green,red,purple
with different effects
