Good mechanical, especially if you're getting into them

I bought the cheapest option. Outemu Brown switches without backlight. You can upgrade the switches and add backlight if you really want to, just need to do a bit of soldering!

I got this as a starter mechanical on a budget. If you need assistance find me and many others on /r/mechanicalkeyboards on reddit and get some suggestions, I have really enjoyed this board for what it is.

Build quality is aluminum backplate, plastic back with rubber feet. The keycaps are a less offensive font than the backlit version, but ABS plastic.

Layout is standard rows, 65% layout which means it has no function row, no numpad and the home row is missing two. Yet it does retain the arrow keys and all that functionality lost is kept using the function key.

I highly recommend this board, especially of you're new to mechanical keyboards and like the form factor, and don't care about advanced features which higher end models give.

Though one piece of advice is test which switch to buy before, learn what reds, browns and blues are like and test the different brands. Personally Gateron Browns are my favorite over Cherry Browns and Outemu Browns, but this is something you'll have to find out yourself!

AWESOME AND CHEAP keyboard

I just absolutely love this keyboard. It's so reasonably priced and such high quality. Much wow!

The aluminium casing is rock solid. The feet are stable. The keycaps feel really nice for PBT keys and they look awesome. The addition of the Insert, Delete, Page Up and Page Down Keys on the right make it so much better to use than keyboards without them.

Got gateron brown switches with it. They are lighter than cherry MX browns, and great for most games. If anything they're a little too light, but still pretty nice to use. From what I've heard the outemos are significantly worse switches.

Backlighting is sweet, plus it has a breathing effect.

1 thing to note: don't change the repeat rate above 20x (the default) otherwise this causes issues with repeated keypresses in game. If you hit it by accident it makes it seem like the keyboard is broken or something and you won't know what caused it.

The perfect entry into the world of mechanical keyboards, or for anyone looking for a nice compact size for their setup.

The build is solid, with a metal top plate and plastic base, meaning that it has some heft to it. I had been worried that the metal might be glossy and make it look cheap, but it is brushed and the whole keyboard looks premium. It has rubber feet that stick well to the desk so it does not budge, and the risers are rubber covered as well, if you want to tilt the keyboard up. The cable is a removable micro USB and routes through the centre top of the keyboard - there is a nice amount of space around the port so it is easy to get in and out, but won't come out by accident even if you tug on the keyboard.

The key caps are about the same as your average keyboard, nothing extra special - but you could always use custom caps if you wanted to upgrade to something fancy because it uses the standard Cherry MX switch shape (the keyboard also comes with a key cap puller). I chose to install some rubber o-rings just to help dampen the sound. There is a definite clack when bottoming out thanks to the metal build, but for light typers I doubt it would be a real issue, because the brown switch actuates halfway. There is a definite tactile response, and as far as I can tell, exactly the same as a Cherry Brown - in a blind test I doubt many would be able to discern a difference, especially if you switched to some fancier key caps.

One thing of note - it has a US layout, but when pulled into my Windows 10 PC and a Chromebook, it automatically read as a UK keyboard. What that means is that the '2' key was " as usual, rather than '@'. This was a nice surprise, meaning that I could continue to touch type as normal without having to think about the layout. I prefer the ANSI enter key to the ISO anyway (the long flat enter, as opposed to the tetris like left bend enter).

Overall a fantastic piece of kit for the price and it looks slick.

If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard but getting turned off by the high prices of "mainstream" manufacturers, this is a great alternative. Typing on this keyboard feels superb to say the least, although this is comparing to my shoddy old Logitech K120, which is a membrane keyboard. It does not feel or look cheap at all. I also liked the smaller size, since I sometimes have a drink or such with me at my desk, and it leaves plenty of space available. Do note there is no separate row of keys for the F1-F12 keys. They are instead activated by holding down the FN key and then the corresponding number. There are also no separate keys for the home, scroll lock, print screen and pause buttons, which are also all activated by holding FN and the corresponding key. So far this has not bothered me at all, you get used to it very easily. The FN key is also used to activate several shortcuts, like the calculator or several media keys. Especially the media keys have proven very useful whilst listening to music on Spotify. The model which I purchased has no LED's, but I myself do not see a need to have these on a keyboard, as I touch type. Overall I'd say this is an absolutely brilliant keyboard if you're looking to upgrade or just replace an old keyboard.
