Ray's father Mickey is released from prison after twenty years, setting off a chain of events that tests the limits of loyalty, family and the law; Ray's wife and children struggle to understand the complicated man of the house.
Drawing inspiration from classic noir cinema, Ray Donovan is a modern reimagining of the LA crime drama. This featurette goes behind the camera with the cast and crew responsible for bringing this vision to the screen.
Totally addictive show! Each series just gets better and better, and where other shows would be flagging about now - this show moves up each time to a higher level. Amazing cast, superb acting and the writer of this show exceeds himself on the script writing. Not an ounce of boredom in Ray Donovan's life, the quiet man, the fixer. He's definitely the glue that keeps it all together for everyone, and each episode keeps us wanting more of him and Jon Voight is an absolute hoot! He's super funny in this. They should all get Golden Globes for this masterpiece as other shows don't even come close. Absolute class!!
Imagine this cast... Wolverines brother, Trixie from Deadwood, Manny from Scarface, Reg from Vera Drake, Shane from the L Word, Benvolio Montague from Baz Luhrmanns Romeo + Juliet, Trapper John McIntyre from M*A*S*H, Dr Taub from House, Moe from The Simpsons, Audrey from Twin Peaks, Roberta from Desperately Seeking Susan, Detective Moreland from The Wire, the presidents daughter that ended down the hole in The Silence of the Lambs AND Angelina Jolies dad... (Joe Buck from Midnight Cowboy for the film buffs). Currently binge watching this awesome series with its amazing cast!
There are a couple of eyebrow-raising sidesteps in the various plotlines that jar and Abby's every other word is the f-word is plausible dialogue for her, but tiresome for the rest of us. You might also find the absence of a single likeable character a little odd, although the fact explains the long, long list of everyone else's self-inflicted (and well deserved) crises that finally leave Ray at the end of his own considerable limits. So few faults and otherwise intriguing, engrossing, compelling and memorable television.
Superb drama with an excellent cast. The production is very good, and the plots come thick and fast, the script writers must have wonderful imagination! It is quite "gritty" in places, but we were hooked from the first episode of season one.
As compelling as S1 & S2. Brilliant acting with a storyline that's both tragic and touching in equal measure. A family drama that draws you in and makes you care about the characters with all their quirks and flaws. Gritty realism at its best.
Big fan of Ray Donovan, loved the first two seasons but this season wasn't as good for me. The storylines didn't seem as strong, I mean it's still good and got better in the later episodes but it just seemed that way to me at times. Still better than most things on TV though
Wow. The Donovan's never fail to deliver. The whole family have their ways and different traits.Very fast paced and never boring. One of my firm favourites. Let me know when the next series is released
I am hooked on this series, the acting is superb, the characters are convincing and believable. Leiv Schreiber and Jon Voight are at their finest. A class act, the writing for each episode makes you want to see more. I love the dark storyline along with the weird sense of humour. Watch this if you liked The Sopranos!
