    I ordered this as I was using the EPEVER manufacturers USB to RS485 cable which requires custom drivers to be compiled which broke on every major kernel update. This was really frustrating so I ordered this as it was less than £5 and so worth a go. I plugged it into my Raspberry PI 3 and it was recognised immediately - no more custom modules. I made up a new RJ45 cable for the EPEVER MPPT solar change controller, fiddled about with the wires, modded my python code and it just worked. I am really happy with it. I've not had it long enough to say if it will last but so far its been great. I'll probably order another.

    I needed this module to interface my solar inverter with my Raspberry Pi powered Solar Assistant software.

    Worked out of the box (I just cut a CAT5 cable off at one end and wired as appropriate for my inverter)

    It does what it says on the tin and provides an RS485 interface to the connected device via USB, it has been up and running for 1year at the time of writing this review without issue.

    Brilliant, enable me to check the calibration of measuring systems using my laptop , instead of paying someone else. Most of the industrial equipment that I maintain still uses RS485 protocol, this has enabled us at work to maintain them ourselves without calling in the service engineer. Only criticism is that the screw terminal connection at the back feels flimsy, I've connected a good quality cable to it and covered it with layers of heat shrink as reinforcement . Would definitely recommend this if you deal with equipment using the RS485 protocol.
