Good alround laptop

Good laptop. The WiFi could be better as it looses signal on the occasion when other devices don't. Also the only real negative is the lack of options to change the touchpad settings. I have had to resort to a mouse as the tap to select (possibly opening a link) is not always a welcome feature. I have not been able to find a better app to give more touchpad control.

Purchased this laptop with the intention of using it for standard tasks (browsing, email, Microsoft Office, etc.). It deals comfortably will all such tasks, and is excellent value at the £299 price point.

For those wanting to get a little extra out of this machine, modification is fairly simple. To expand the RAM, there is a slot on the back which has a single screw (screw through the black cover). Access to the HDD is done by removing all screws on the back, and then using a card to gently prise open the top panel (starting over the optical drive slot). You will need to be careful not to damage the two cables connected on the inside (click up and gently pull to remove these, and do the opposite when connecting again).

If you're changing the HDD to an SSD, then putting the HDD into the optical drive slot is simple. It only has a single screw holding it in place.

To perform all the modifications took me about 30 minutes (only my second time doing such modifications on a laptop). Obviously it will take a person doing it for the first time longer, but there are videos available online for this model (or similar) showing you roughly what to do.

Overall, I would recommend this laptop for the value it offers standard users at this price point.

Stay Clear - completely useless, cant multitask

This Product does not function as it should. It struggles to complete any extremely basic tools, e.g opening word, outlook, skype, Chome.

Literally opening Chrome can take several minutes. it is almost as if the computer has no RAM installed.
I have re-installed windows and it has hardly helped.
Unfortunately, i did not use this computer for several months after purchasing it. Conveniently, it only comes with a 3 month warranty.
You can definitely spend you money on something better

A decent Laptop that will get the job done

While the laptop is perfectly functional in the end and does what it needs to do in terms of work for college there are a couple of issues that may arise in it's lifetime.

Firstly lets go over its good points, it's not a hot laptop it stays really nice and cool throughout its operational time on it's battery and extended operation while plugged into the mains, it is also very quiet the noisiest thing being the CD drive and the ports appear to be robust for day to day usage. This laptop has a standard hard disk drive so it is completely reasonable for the laptop to be fairly slow.

There are quite a few negative points to the laptop however they are fairly minor,
first off the screen is rather shiny this may be due to a protective layer however and it is still tolerable,
While i was installing windows 10 onto the laptop there were issues with the track pad until i downloaded the software from the Asus website.
Lastly i have recently been getting issues with the battery not being detected properly, this indicates a hardware issue of some kind and it's certainly interesting to see that according to the laptop there is no battery even though it is being powered by it.

Even if the laptop battery no longer becomes usable due to a fault i will still hopefully get much use out of it by plugging the laptop into the mains i have even started to consider upgrading the laptop to an SSD to speed it up a bit which is an option available for this laptop.
Overall an unremarkable laptop for the price which has a number of possible issues but still very usable.
