Great Stick for the Right Price
Everyone else nailed it. It's great for a beginner because of its moderate price and highly customizable for everyone else. I bought it for around £60.73 (to my surprise since I expected £72.87, but it's dispatched by Amazon Eu Sarl), which is equivalent to about $93.00, but the postage and packaging is £20.72 (~$30). With standard shipping, the total is $129.74. I recommend the priority shipping since it's only about $3.00 more. If you're a beginner, you're still paying less than for the bigger brands like Madcatz or Hori and won't notice the quality difference too much. For everyone else, it's easier to mod than most sticks on the market. The stick was secure inside the package when it arrived. It's smaller and lighter than the SSFIV TE stick. The share button functions perfectly. It definitely works for both PS3 and PS4; when you use it on PS3, the light indicator will tell you what player you are. However, because players are indicated by light instead of numbers on the PS4, the stick doesn't register it properly and the light won't come on. The PS button cannot turn on the PS4, so you need to do it manually, and when it's on, you need to press the button for it to actually work on the system. At least the button is fun to click. The buttons were ok. It's more resistant, not as loose and doesn't click like the Sanwa OBSF-30, which I bought from focusattack.com (make sure to write down which wire goes to what button or you'll have fun opening it back up to figure it out). The joystick felt pretty good, but I replaced it with the Sanwa JLF one from Amazon. If you decide to switch it, you'll need the 5-pin female to female JST-XH cable (it luckily came with the ordered joystick, but if you need one, you can order it from Amazon, as well; unfortunately, it's hard to find anywhere else). The artwork is probably my favorite part of this stick. The plexiglass is held down by magnets that are strong enough to hold the art down along with the buttons (put the art down first before you lay the buttons on top of it) but easy enough to simply lift off when you have removed the balltop and buttons. The art is 12.8 x 7.7 inches, meaning you can use 8.5 by 14 in. paper and print it out on regular printers. I recommend 28 or 32 lb. paper for a higher quality feel, but regular 20 lb. will work if you don't mind the flimsiness (I bought the 28 lb Hammermill copy paper from Amazon). If you don't trust yourself, you can go to FedEx (~$1.38 each) to print on 32 lb or Staples to print on 20 lb ($0.50 each). I used an Epson XP-610 printer. When printing the .pdf image, make sure to select "actual size" and check "choose paper source by PDF page size." You can also go into advanced settings and check "print as image" to avoid potential problems. Creating the art was daunting at first, but after learning about some basics, it was fun. Gimp or Photoshop will work. I used Photoshop CS2 since it was free (you need a product key after you install it, but you can find it on a forum if you google it). You can find the template for the stick on shoryuken.com, and I recommend these two videos if you wish to edit your own artwork: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hzRZaOey38 (ignore size difference) www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOddVbdMLXY (after cutting what you want, save it as a .psd file to place it on the stick template) It was my first time modding a stick, and I couldn't be happier with the result.

Bought as a replacement for my 6 year old TE S stick, as it is a 360 one originally and has been modded to work with PS3 as well; the PS4 sees at as a legacy controller which causes some weirdness.

The buttons and the stick are surprisingly good quality. No idea how long they will last, but there is no need to hurry changing them to Sanwa or whatever you prefer. The build quality is nice, does not feel like it will break any moment, quite the contrary fits well in the lap, very stable and feels reliable.

However, the select button does not seem to take the place of the touch-pad press from the regular controller. As such I am unable to reset position in fighting game training modes, which isextremely important. Tried it in Inustice 2, Mortal Kombat X and Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator to no avail. The workaround is to use it as PS3 stick in legacy mode, which is the thing I've wanted to solve with buying it.
This is the only issue I have with it, but that is quite a glaring one and does lower the score from a perfect 5* significantly.
It may even be that the unit I've received is faulty I have no idea, will get in touch with their customer support and update this review depending on their answer.

There really is very little to dislike about this stick.

It's heavy and solid in construction (this comes from a heavy metal top plate and bottom plate) meaning that it sits in your lap and doesn't jerk around as you play.

The stock joystick is absolutely fine and really doesn't need to be changed out. The stock buttons are fine if you're not used to the top-end arcade sticks, but you would benefit from spending 20GBP for 8 buttons incl. shipping from somewhere like arcadeworlduk.com.

Swapping those buttons in/out is a piece of cake - 6 screws at the bottom that you just need a philips screwdriver to remove to take the bottom plate off. Connections to the buttons themselves are quick-disconnects i.e. you can just pull them off with your fingers, pop out the old button, snap the new one in and reconnect the wires. Whole process of changing the buttons took me about 10 minutes and makes a big difference if your into arcade quality parts.

Haven't changed out the stick yet, but looks to be just as easy.

In summary, for (stick: £70 + buttons: £20 = ) £90 you're getting an arcade quality stick that is easily modable and works absolutely fine with ps3, ps4 and PC. I've also tested on Steam Link and this works fine with Skullgirls (haven't had chance at time of writing to test with anything else). Even if you replace the joystick (which will be about 15/20GBP plus 3GBP for the cable harness so you don't have to do any soldering) you've still got a Tournament Edition grade stick for about half of the price of an actual Tournament Edition.

For the record, I have built my own arcade stick in the past and my other stick is a Tournament Edition, so I know about 'quality feels'.

Cable tidy (as you find on other high-quality sticks) works well - I don't have a problem with it coming out the side like some people seem to. The only thing I've found is that sometimes I like to use a USB extension across my living room to connect to the ps4 - but then it's quite a distance across my living room to the TV. I would imagine the USB cable to be more than long enough for the average user.

You can also easily switch out the art on the top - search the forums on shoryuken.com for the template to arrange your own artwork for printing.

Good value, works, couldn't be easier to mod, feels lovely to play on, and at a great price. Hard to see how you'd be disappointed.

Last thing though, and the reason for 4 stars - within a week one of the wires on one of the microswitches on the joystick came loose. Now I'm happy to re-solder it as it's a super quick fix and was easier than the rigmerole of return and re-purchase, so just know that if anything DOES go wrong with it (although I haven't seen my particular issue reported ANYWHERE else!) that it's more than likely easy to fix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mejor relacion Calidad Precio

5.0 out of 5 stars Gute Verarbeitung, der Stick lässt sich sogar auf Rechnern mit dem Betriebssystem Windows (Vista und 7 getestet) nutzen!
Reviewed in Germany on 17 April 2015
    Style Name: Arcade StickVerified Purchase
