The Unleashed wasn't that bad, I have seen much worse from this type of horror film, with loads being churned out each year.
The acting and direction wasn't the best, but you do expect this with this film being shot on a shoe string and feeling more like a late night Channel 5 movie. But the film did make me jump a few times, and the story did keep my attention, plus not a bad ending. Not the best horror but worth a look if it ever comes out on TV.
In this 2011 supernatural thriller Madison [Trisha Echeverria] returns home after 8 years on inheriting her mums house which has a history of supernatural activity. At a family gathering they discover an ancient Ouija board and it’s not long before they try it out. But have they unwittingly released or disturbed something? This simple tale of messing with Ouija boards offers little new to the genre but it is very atmospheric with numerous jumpy moments and many intense scenes, it tends to have a sort of home video feel to it in places. There are many intriguing elements here but they take too long to reveal the various backstories, especially explaining the seemingly irrelevant and thus confusing beginning. The single disc offers only play and scene selection. With some swearing, this does not rely on nudity or sex to drive it along. The photography is good and the audio to this is louder than most DVDs and with an atmospheric sound score, and some great surround sound effects, this is well worth a watch. However, this will not please gore fans being mostly psychological in the horror stakes and in a few scenes there is some bad dialogue and acting, but as a 15 rating it has to be a ***** as I found it scarier than many 18s.
