Just the right mix of comedy and mystery.A good ensemble cast. And a weird as yet unstated premise. Worth more viewing I would say.

Rally got into the story, a nice mix of characters, most people could relate to at least one of them! Interesting plot, just a shame it's only a pilot! Would definitely watch it if it became a series!

But now I'm hooked. More info needed on whether this will turn into a series. Spider humans, prostitutes, shotguns, rich old lady, dishy french woman, Irish drunk, a layer, black hero, a clown and a tiny police woman, what more could you want.

Although it follows a rather well trodden (eg. "Lost") formula of a dozen people, all very different (seemingly random) characters, thrown together, struggling against extreme adversity this is quite good. It's not "brilliant" and you certainly need to "suspend your disbelief at the door" (don't worry - you can get it back as you leave), but it's OK.

You can often summarise a film or TV programme by describing as "a cross between". In this case, I'd say it's a cross between "The X-Files" and "Lost" with perhaps a smattering of "Zombies Dawn of the Dead" - which is not surprising as it's from the original X-Files creator.

The plot revolves around a dozen (seemly unconnected) people thrown together during some sort of Los Angeles based apocalyptic crisis (why do these things always happen in LA?).

The group includes a hard drinking and equally hash talking Irish bloke, a shot-gun toting tough (but innocent) convicted murderer, a top LA lawyer, and his bible quoting escort and an attractive (and very resourceful) French actress - with an admittedly poor accent.

Add to this a children's clown (in full dress), a female police officer and an elderly multi-millionaire widow, and you couldn't find a more randomly chosen group.

But there's lots we're not told.

Like the audience, they're busy making sense of the unexpected crisis, and the odd coincidences and clues they're given.

There's lots of tension, arguments and the occasional gun toting stand-off, and it's worth persevering past the slow start, as the back-story of the key people is established.

Overall, I'd say it's enjoyable with high production values, and remarkably well directed. I'll keep it in my "Watch List", and look forward to the (hopefully) forthcoming series.

Recommended.

I definitely want to find out more. I was intrigued and thoroughly gripped throughout. The Irish character was pretty lame, stereotypical and dodgy accent but all the other characters were strong. Much like Lost, this has the potential to keep revealing more and getting you hooked in. I just hope the writers know where they're going with it from the onset.
