We all know the story of Chicken Little (Zach Braff), the poor little chicken who tried to warn the town that the sky was falling only to have it turn out to be an acorn. But what happened to him after the story ended? That's what this movie tells us.

Turns out that Chicken Little is in middle school. His exploits of a year ago are an embarrassment to his father, Buck Cluck (Garry Marshall). And the fact that there are commemorative plates and an upcoming movie based on the story haven't done much for the father/son relationship.

Despite Buck's constant pleas, Chicken Little is determined to prove his worth to his father. And, just as he's about to put the whole sky is falling nonsense behind him, it happens again. What should Chicken Little do this time?

Okay, let's get the bad out of the way right now. Yes, the story is a little slow in the first half and a little weird and frantic in the second half. And that second half might scare kids until they learn what is really happening. But there really is so much to love.

Even though the first half is slow, there are so many wonderful gags in it. Chicken Little's friends like Fish Out of Water and Runt of the Little are a hoot. One scene has a background joke I love. And once the sky falls a second time, things really pick up. As I said, it goes off in a weird direction, but they manage to make it work. This isn't something serious, but it is fun, and that's all that truly matters. Having said that, there is an important moral about parent child communication that gets a tad preachy at times. I don't mind too much.

No, this isn't a grand slam. But it is plenty of fun to entertain the young and young at heart.

If you don't have kids to entertain then stop right there and rent something else that's funnier e.g. 'Over The Hedge' or 'Happy Feet'. If you do have kids to entertain then look no further than this light-weight father-son story which retells the classic fable with a sci-fi twist. The animation is stylish but a little 'empty' feeling in comparison to the richness of environments portrayed in similar films and at times smacks of a HD Xbox-360 cut scene. That said, if you liked 'Mars Attacks' or those green tentacled guys in 'The Simpsons' and can avoid barfing up at the sentimental clap-trap towards the end then why not give it a try.

This is a fun, typical, children's story of a hapless, endearing character on the fringes of the kids social circle who discovers something amazing - but will anyone listen?

The animation is the standard brilliant we've come to expect and the central character works well because of what this brings to the way you identify with him. Great movement and facial characteristics.

The story is predictable for the adults but a good romp for the kids, and humourous enough for us old folk to sit through and enjoy. The aliens are good and evil and some of the details and little sub-events are not as expected. Good imagination as always.

I think this will be a standard favourite for the kids and will be watched and re-watched.

Chicken Little really does pull at your heart-strings. For the first 20mins I felt so sorry for that little guy, but at the same time loved the friendship between Little & his dad.

Then 20mins into the film he does something so big that it can do nothing but bring a massive smile to your face, I think we needed the first 20mins to make us connect to Little for this to work.

As for the 2nd half of the film, have to be honest, I wasn't right keen on the alien stuff, but as that didn't really last that long it didn't take anything away from my enjoyment of the movie. There is also some very funny parts that will make you laugh out loud.

Oh and the soundtrack is really good too, a nice mix of songs so yep, all in all we loved Chicken Little & will be watching it again soon I'm sure!

my 5 year old daughter is just getting into movies so thought I'd treat her to this as I remember my younger siblings watching it all the time when they were younger. It was a big hit! She found it hilarious and has watched it every day for a week (not sure that's such a good thing though!!) great value for money! Love the shiny case, makes it look much nicer especially if being given as a gift.

Not watched it yet but have seen clips. This is another film for my collection of Disney, I am slowly getting the whole collection of their Classics, hoping to get all of Pixar, and also a lot of the original live action films.
