S3 is exceptionally funny. The writers are very clever and their message is poignant and kind. The actors are so effortless and seamless and the chemistry between them is brilliant. In every episode I was bursting out laughing. Every season so far has been brilliant. It keeps improving. So looking forward to S4 and I hope that it continues for years to come.

This is the funniest, feel, good series around. We watch it as a family with our 2 kids age 9 & 11 and can't stop laughing. We all identify with a different character each episode and spend ages comparing our own idiosyncrasies with those of the characters.
Have reccommended this series to all our friends. It's the absolute remedy for the winter blues.

As great BBC watchers we found it hard to move from My Family to Modern Family. However on re watching Season 1 we warmed to the characters and appreciated the humour. There are some very clever ( funny) lines. We now have seasons 1-3 and enjoy watching episodes more than once. If like us you first saw it on commercial T V you will be aware that the ads stop the natural flow of the show and we feel quite differently about it now we see it uninterrupted!

I enjoy this programme and thought series 3 is even better than the first two. The characters continue to be developed and I began to like some whom I initially found irritating. The mark of a good series is when each episode seems to go very quickly.

When I first discovered Modern Family I was so impressed that I immediately purchased seasons 1 and 2 Modern Family - Season 1-2 [DVD] and wrote a glowing review on Amazon, then became increasingly excited about the then forthcoming season three. Here was a very rare thing - a genuinely funny comedy with such broad appeal that it could be enjoyed by the whole family. It fused the traditional family sitcom with the eccentricity and aesthetic of more obscure comedies like Arrested Development, and featured a wonderful cast of likable characters, getting great mileage out of putting them in different configurations and combinations and letting them bounce off each other.

However, it became clear during the strange, decidedly 'off' season three opener 'Dude Ranch', that the wheels had started to come off. I kept watching subsequent episodes in the hope that it would get back on track, but while there were some stronger episodes during the third run (such as 'Phil on Wire'), it's very obviously now a shadow of it's former self, and elicits little more than weak chuckles, lacking the inventive hilarity and endless rewatchability of older episodes like the excellent 'Family Portrait' and 'Fizbo'.

The characters seemed to have turned into annoying caricatures of their former selves - Gloria's mannerisms and delivery - so funny in seasons 1 and 2 - seem overly exaggerated and overbearing this time round. The once lovable Cam now seems shrill, needy and unpleasant, while Claire seems to have 'done a Monica' and is now an absolute drag.

Just a wonderful show. Lots of people stay away from American sitcoms, but this is such British humour. Every season is great!
